Timney drop-in or take to a smith?

Im positive I can install the drop-in. I was just wondering if this trigger was ok. Im just looking to lighten the pull a bit and to be able to adjust over travel.

Ive heard good things about Timney, but want to make sure the drop-ins are quality too.

Here is what im looking to purchase:

I felt like my installation on a 77 Mk II was a piece of cake. I had to grind a bit off the little gizzie I'll call the "safety bar", but I just did a little at a time until it fit. The old bit: Install, check, remove, grind, repeat...I dunno, ten minutes, maybe...

I'm quite happy with the trigger. It's no Canjar, but plenty good as compared to the tort-liability monster from the factory.

Art,

Are Canjar triggers better than Timney?

Thanks,
Steve

The 30-year-old Canjar on Ol' Pet is a bit better than the Timney. The Canjar is like snapping a glass rod. The Timney has just the tiniest bit of "drag"; it's not at all bad, but I can just barely notice it. The Timney is as good as the Remington 700 trigger on my Ti. For normal hunting use, the Timney is excellent.

I had a Canjar single-set on a Ruger 77, years ago. It was excellent on both the "normal" trigger, as well as on the "set".

I've not used a Jewell...

I put the Timney sear in my 77/22. It went in super easy, had to hand file the safety stop very lightly, but that was a no-brainer. Instructions are easy and it's a very fast drop in.

Trigger is just under 2.5lbs, and I think very crisp. Couldn't be happer.
