Just bought a TC Contender and want to change the front sight on my 357 mag barrel. What fits?? Is there a good drop in?

Maybe "handguns, general discussion"?
As for your question, I'm am completely unfamilar with the TC's except that they're capable of more accuracy than i am. :)

Maybe try contacting Brownells ( www.brownells.com ) . They carry a full line of sights and also have a tech staff to answer questions .

not sure, but i shoot an encore in 223 and to be honest, to even begin to unlock their accuracy potential you really should consider scoping it at some point. that being said i would check with this guy:

its ed at ed's tc and encore. very nice guy, very good prices. he sponsors greybeards outdoors, which has the only thompson contender and encore dedicated forum i've ever found. even have their own classifieds
here is that link:

hope this gets you pointed in the right direction! ps barrel buying is very addictive!

I've got glass on all my TC barrels, but your post begs the question, what don't you like about the front sight on the gun right now?

no front sight. TC is far too accurate to use iron sights. only wearing scopes can you realize their full potential. you still have to do your part.

Another for the optics camp - much as EER scopes bug the heck outa me - they do get my shooting into all but rifle class - even better often at 100 yds. I truly think that good scoping will be the way to realize the gun's amazing potential.

I think irons are just fine for the 357mag barrel, that's what I had on mine when I still had it. (reminds me, must find replacement 357 barrel) I have a 2X on my 41mag barrel right now, but as soon as I find the right load for it the irons are going back on. It'll be my "Tote Around While Fishing, That'll Teach That Nasty Old Snapping Turtle" gun.

I'm down to only 5, but I'm working on a 6th (300 Whisper), and I just bought a set 256win dies that I just have to get a barrel for. Dare I say it, I might just enjoy Contenderitis as much as...Cruffling.

To answer happy old sailors question I am used to 3 dot sights and would like to find an adjustable 3 dot set for the .357.
