Still hadn't made a decision as to what I wanted next so I thought I would go down to the local gun shop today and just look at some of my options.

Didn't even mean to buy something today but I let the guy talk me into a new Glock 23.

Now that I got home I am wondering about wether or not I made the right decision.

I like my G19 but I don't have too much experience with the 40 caliber.

Oh, well I can always sell it if I don't like it.

By the way, someone told me I can get a .357 sig barrel for it. Is that true?

Yes you can get a 357 Sig barrel and drop it straight in. :D

You will like the 40, I prefer it over the 9mm, but then again I prefer alot of things over the 9mm. ;)

Once you get used to shooting the .40 you will have two nearly identical pistols, but one will be more accurate (the G19). You may wonder, "Why did I buy a nearly identical gun to one I already have?"

If you want to have a real switcheroo gun, buy a 10mm G20 or 29. With aftermarket barrels you can also fire .40 and .357SIG using the same mags and springs. As an added bonus, those barrels will have proper case support and be in a tougher, if larger, gun.

Also, the G20 and G29 share the same frame as their .45 brothers, the G21 and G30. You could get a new upper from either gun and then you'd also be able to shoot .45ACP, .45 Super, and 450 SMC.

Kevlar,

Is the ejector the same in the 20 and 21?

You would need the .45 mags, too.

The Glock 23 is a nice pistol. BTW, does the FBI still issue it as their official sidearm?

Don't second guess yourself. The Glock 23 is a great package.

Yes, after extensive durability and reliabilty tests, the FBI changed their issue weapon to the 22/23. :D

All new agents have their choice betweent the two, I understand.

tri, a solid weapon, you did fine. Carried it while a LEO myself.

You'll be relieved to know that not only did the FBI adopt it but so did the Tippecanoe County Prosecuting Attorney.:D

Handy, from what I've been reading over at GlockTalk, the ejector doesn't have to be changed, but for "100% reliability" it's a good idea. There are some who think both ejectors are the exact same, and some who think the ejectors must be changed.

Not much of a fan of the 40 S&W, but getting a 357sig barrel & shooting that would be a blast!
