I wandered into a pawn shop today & found a Columbian military Madsen M47 rifle sitting in their rack. It is unaltered with sling & bayonet & appears to be in excellent shape. A quick glance at my Small Arms of the World gave me the basics on it. A cursory search online gave me no clue as to the reliability/value of it. The pawn shop has a price tag of $300.00 on the rifle.
I'm appealing to the vast accumulated knowledge here on THR. What can you tell me about this piece?
Now, I do not NEED another gun, but I sure wouldn't mind giving a space in the safe to a good milsurp rifle.

Its a great 30/06 bolt action. About 25 years ago I had one and then got rid of it. Been looking for a reasonable priced one ever since. I believe IIRC the (Danish ? Madsen) is the last Bolt action military rifle made, excellent quality and machining. The split receiver bridge is a minus but most madsens found are in excellent shape. At that price gooble it up or someone else will.:uhoh:

Telewinz, thanks for the advice. One internet source said the Columbian contract was only 5000 or so rifles. I found somebody on the net trying to sell just the bayonet for $165!
I think the piggy bank is gonna take a hit...:D

The Madsen is certainly a "looker". It's about the only bolt-action rifle that has that "assault rifle" look to it. When you go to the range I'm sure their will be a few people walk over and get a closer look. I'm envious:)

Guys,
I've been looking all over for a replacement bolt for this rifle. If somebody can give information where or who is willing to sell this item IŽll be very grateful. I'm in Atlanta area. Best regards, Lucas Marulanda

I received this from a board member here as a fact. So he gets the credit for good taste.
