I'm sorry people,

But this "I'm carrying" and I'm gonna "run away" BS is getting OLD!

I didn't spend years in Nam and Rhodesia - just to come home to a bunch of people that "want to protect myself" - and screw the rest of you!

If you've GOT a CCW - then you're now a "deputy" in what ever law enforcement establisment that operates where you live! I don't CARE what the LEO's say - if you're toteing(sp?), then you're responsible for those around YOU!

Screw YOU - STAND and deliver - or just crawl back into the hole you crawled out of! Leave the gun outside - I'll find a way to make "good use" of it.

YES, you look for "cover and concelment" - but it's TOWARD the fight - NOT away!

AFRAID of "lawsuits" - well, there's that said "hole". Sue FIRST!

Yea, you might get killed - well, you have to decide what's "right" for you - take the chance, or tell your family "Next time - I'll save them!"

Yea, "NEXT TIME" - sorry, it's always "now" for me.

Sorry, I don't fit into any "catagory" that's available right now - I'm just NOT going to back down. I've seen what happens then, and I'm not going to let it happen where I live or the people I live around!

Well, WRONG again about the "catagory" - I'm a "depraved Viet Vet" that's a "baby killer, father raper and Mother stabber"! Compliments from my "crack whore" sister-in -law. God, why isn't she DEAD yet? And HOW did she find my phone number?

Questions, questions!

Gentle winds,
cr

What is your point? You used a lot of words but didn't say anything. Get some anger management therapy, maybe take an english comp. course, and put away the firearms until you are under control.

This kind of ranting is what makes us look like a bunch of nuts!

What exactly were you doing in Rhodesia?

If I lived in HI i would be a little more worried about getting popped for carrying a gun in the first place.

Your spoiling for a fight, eventually you will find one. Please let us know how it goes. I hear they have internet access in prison these days.

if you're toteing(sp?), then you're responsible for those around YOU! If I want to be responsible for someone else, I'll decide that for myself. No one else has one damn thing to say about it.

Have a nice life.

Maybe you don't care what the LEO's say but I do. Otherwise doesn't that make me a criminal? The state I live in has made it quite clear that a CCW is for my protection and that does not make me a LEO.

Actually while typing this I had to rethink it and I sort of agree with you. I don't care what the LEO's say I care what the DA or AG says.

I've not read or heard of anyone who was with a family member or friends who advocated running away when Lethal Force was arguably justified.

Most of the confrontations I know of were a perp or two and a single victim -- unless it was a home breakin or store robbery.

When most folks say, "Run away, run away," its generally folks who are by themselves and who have a realistic choice of "getting out of Dodge" (avoiding a fight) or standing and delivering, as you advocate. I still think that's good advice. If those who are with you can safely get the hell out of Dodge, you should do so. (Doing so does more to potentially protect them than having a shoot out... as stray bullets fly both directions.)

I'm suspect you're just trying to stimulate some discussion. Well, have at it.

But I would remind you that what you did in 'Nam or Rhodesia really doesn't apply in civilian life; different standards, different rules and while the risk may be great, in some situations, it ain't the same.

But, good luck, nevertheless, when the stuff hits the fan. I hope you shoot straight and the bad guys doesn't.

If you want to be a deputy, go apply as a full time, part time, or reserve officer in your local jurisdictions. If not, do not act or impersonate one. If you insist on doing that, well, there is room in prison, if you insist.
May I suggest thorazine, or at the very least, switch to decaf?

We must do what we can to protect our precious bodily fluids.

That’s why I only drink rainwater and distilled Kentucky whisky.

Crashresidue, what you say appears to be extremely unpopular with some of the members of this board.

That being said, if I'm ever in a place where bad things happen, you sound like someone I'd like to have covering my back.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again--if someone who has the means to do so, stands idly by and watches someone else get hurt, or killed, using the rationale, "Hey, it's not my family", or, "I'll run away", I'm sorry. You should not be carrying in the first place. As a matter of fact, say nothing about defense--either of self or others.

And don't you DARE try to tell someone else how to defend themselves.

You know what, folks? We have a moral obligation as human beings to help others who are in peril.

Witness, the firefighters in NYC on 9/11. No one would have blamed a single one of them for NOT entering those towers. But they did.

Witness, the guy in TX who engaged a rifle-bearing killer in the street. No one would have blamed him for simply staying in his house. He chose to engage--and in doing so, lost his life. But, he saved life, too, from what I've read.

I carry my Colt Enhanced every day. I also carry reloads. And I will not distance myself from danger simply because of some concern that I may be hurt. I WILL respond, and I WILL answer.

Sorry if that offends some folks here.

You don't care? - Tell the prosecuting attorney and judge that you are a "deputy" (because you have a CCW) after things go wrong at the local Quickie Mart. See if they share the same opinion.

Crash.... Ya,... Nam and Rhodesia, you were there, I was there, lots of people were there... and last time I checked, the mission was still uncompleted. if your going to talk the talk, you best be able to walk the walk... responsibility covers the past, present and future.

Crash, if you're living in Hawaii, you don't HAVE a CCW in the first place - so where's the beef? I smell BS all over this one...

And, by the way, I'm an 18-year veteran of the Southern African wars, including ops in South Africa, Namibia, Angola and Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). What was your unit? When? Where?

I love people like you in my CCW class.

I'm with Preacherman on this one, and I think I'm going to Jeff a favor and put a bullet in this thread. If you want to have an intelligent discussion about the morality of CCW use, please do so. If you want to bang on your chest there are plenty of other boards where that is encouraged.
