so um...
.. hypotethetically, if one were to begin producing and selling firearms or accessories, what kind of insurance would be needed to cover one's rear end in the liability sense? I mean, I know there's always the risk of a nutcase judge letting a "you killed my crack-dealing baby who stole one of your Evil Guns" lawsuit through, but short of that.. what's necessary? And where might one go to buy such coverage?

Business premises liability (invitees--depends on state law and status of ownership, tenant v. owner, etc.), loss of business (fire may be separate), maybe an umbrella policy of a couple of different kinds, etc.
Where to buy--shop around. Maybe use that newfangled Internet thing the kids have would help?

Kaylee,
Do an internet search under "manufacturing insurance" or "risk insurance", this will give you lists of insurance agencies who underwrite new businesses.
Call any gunsmiths and gunstores you know for advice on who they use, try calling some of the current commercial manufacturers and see if you can talk to their business manager/office manager to see who they use. The smaller ones like Wilson Combat would probably be very helpful.
Also try consulting the NRA and their 'Business Alliance" section.
In terms of how much coverage, if a suit does happen to get filed against you/your company someday, it will amazingly be for the exact maximum amount of coverage you have bought!
