Hello. While browsingthe net,I came across a Smith and Wesson 29-3.This one has very nice bluing and comes with a 5 7/8" barrel.Would the price of $495.00 be too high? and is this a common or uncommon barrel length? Thanks ..

I might be wrong, but it seems a bit high to me. I'd say ~$430 would be a more realistic top end, if it was in perfect shape.

While barrels some barrels aren't the real listed lengths this revolver would be listed as a 6 incher. In todays market with a N-frame in excellent condition a $500 pricetag is normal for most locals.

The 29-2 saw a change to 6" barrel length and dropped 6 1/2" around 1979 ... the 19-3 then came out 1982 - so your barrel has to be actually a 6" ... measure from start of forcing cone ... seems unlikely it has been tweaked, unless re crowned for some reason.

This was the first 29 where they dropped the P&R.

Actually, if this is good 98% - I doubt that price is widly out - and depends on area too. Generally, good specimens do seem to fetch good figures. There is a healthy market for these so doubt you'll find a real bargain - unless very fortunate.

Very few 6" N-frames actually measure out to 6".
