"Peace Through Superior Firepower" Pins

March 14, 2003, 11:14 PM
I've been selling these on ar15.com for about a month and they've been quite a hit, so I thought I'd see if anyone here is interested. Cost is $2/pin and $0.75 shipping per order. Great for annoying liberals once they see the message. :D

I'm ordering some.

FYI, your post may get bumped to the classified section.

March 14, 2003, 11:27 PM
I dig the saying but not the symbol. Maybe another design...? Then I'd buy one. Best of luck anyway.

March 14, 2003, 11:34 PM
Maybe another design...?

Yes, soon...

March 14, 2003, 11:38 PM
I dig the saying but not the symbol. Maybe another design...?
No! That's the irony of it!
Just like Joker's "Peace" sign and "Born to Kill" on his helmet in full Metal Jacket.

I ordered five. I'm sending three to the Dixie Chicks and one to Martin Sheen..

March 14, 2003, 11:44 PM
BamBam: Yeah, I get the irony of it... still don't particularly like the symbol... But YES, Full Metal Jacket does rock. :) Just watched it again last week....The duality of man... You know, the Jungian thing...?

Guess I'm partly stuck on 'divarty's t-shirt "When all else fails, vote from the rooftops." Still want to get one of those. :)

Maybe I'll order a pin anyway just cause I know it'll tick people off. Do you take money orders or cash via snail mail?

March 14, 2003, 11:50 PM
"Son, all I've ever asked of my marines is that they obey my orders as they would the word of God. We are here to help the Vietnamese, because inside every gook there is an American trying to get out. It's a hardball world, son. We've gotta keep our heads until this peace craze blows over. "

March 15, 2003, 07:45 PM

March 15, 2003, 07:55 PM
I have always enjoyed the "peace craze" phrase in that movie.

I particularly like GySgt. Hartman's phrases. I use them in traffic. The only clean one I can think of that I use the most...well...maybe its not clean, is "Any [freaking] time, sweet-heart!"

The pins are great. I saw a shirt that had an upside-down peace sign that said "No appeasement for peace" or something similar. Made me laugh.

Well done!

"I dig the saying but not the symbol. Maybe another design...?"

I agree. Maybe something like this :

March 15, 2003, 08:10 PM
Well done hksw!

March 15, 2003, 08:13 PM
I ordered one about 2 weeks ago and just got it. It's very nicely made, and goes well with my long hippie hair. I think it'll be going on my scout rifle's sling. :)

March 15, 2003, 09:20 PM
Just ordered 2 pins. They are great, thanks.:D

Just ordered 2. Can't wait to annoy the bedwetting, thumbsucking leftists.:neener:

March 15, 2003, 10:51 PM
Got the same saying on a T shirt.Has a HK MP 5 on it.Bought it at SOF convention a few yrs back when it was in Los Vegas.Tatered but still wearable.

March 15, 2003, 11:11 PM
I like the irony of the symbol as well. Gotta have some! Maybe hand them out at the range, or at the next demonstration.

March 16, 2003, 01:25 PM
I ordered two. Can't stand PayPal so my check's in the mail.

March 20, 2003, 07:06 PM

I ordered some for me and some friends. I'm looking forward to getting them.

March 20, 2003, 09:18 PM
I also ordered two. How long will it take to get to Michigan? The more I hear from the liberals, the more and more agonizing the wait gets.

March 20, 2003, 09:27 PM
I ordered several a couple of weeks ago. Prompt service and good quality. Recommended.

March 21, 2003, 09:27 AM
Okay, okay ... getting three.

Will probably have to order more in a few weeks.

March 21, 2003, 09:37 AM
I ordered 10, and got them within a couple of days. Really like the expressions I get, after they read the inscription. May have to order more!

March 21, 2003, 09:37 AM
Don' want no chicken track. Just a large block word PEACE underneath the other three words in small print.

March 21, 2003, 09:43 AM
The real irony of the symbol is that was originally designed for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), long before it was co-opted by the anti-war movement in the 60's.

March 21, 2003, 09:48 AM
Got mine! Good quality, good service. Thanks!

- Gabe

March 21, 2003, 10:00 AM
I used to have one of those "Peace Through Superior Firepower" tee shirts where the peace sign had four engine nacelles and tailfins. ;)

March 21, 2003, 10:23 AM
Just ordered 5 to pass out to co-workers...

AJ Dual
March 21, 2003, 11:43 AM
I got 5 a few weeks ago and they came in a few days.

I gave out a few and got lots of laughs.

I gave one to a good friend of mine who is a highschool biology teacher. Last Wednesday in fact, his class segued and got on the issue of Iraq.

He has a pinko college student teaching assistant this semester and she was generally anti-war, anti Bush, and pratteling off the usual one-liners. (his class was about 80-90% pro, amazingly).

He went up to the chalkboard, and drew a gigantic peace symbol.

He stood back, considering it for a moment, then went back and added the words around the outside.

It took the class about 10 minutes to stop laughing... :D

March 21, 2003, 01:38 PM
What is the approximate diameter of the pin?

Tim Burke
March 21, 2003, 09:31 PM
Mine are almost exactly 1" in diameter.

March 21, 2003, 10:39 PM
Those are great. The only way you could tweak someone more, is to tell them the pins are made from recycled brass (brass that wasn't suitable for reloading, of course).

March 23, 2003, 10:36 PM
I have to pay first to get them, right? I'm kind of lost- because it said "thanks for ordering" and like- the verification e-mail I got didn't have my home address on it or anything...

March 25, 2003, 03:25 AM
Even the Iraqis are going to get one! :)

Yohan, send your payment to the address in your confirmation e-mail and your pins will be mailed out. We're not all fancy and stuff like Amazon, etc. ;)

March 25, 2003, 12:17 PM
How much for sending a few to Norway?

Bily Lovec
March 25, 2003, 01:00 PM
ordered four....

March 25, 2003, 01:53 PM
One dollar should cover shipping to Norway. We ship worldwide, even to APOs (hint hint). ;)

March 25, 2003, 11:36 PM
but about 1966 or 1967 I designed something similar. No wording, but a peace symbol superimposed by a crossed spear and M-16 rifle.

If you can incorporate it, be my guest.

FINE place to put your pin! Do you mind if I follow suit?

March 29, 2003, 10:33 AM
It's not going along with the crowd till there is a crowd, right? It should attract questions.

March 29, 2003, 11:13 AM
Maybe you could design one so that at a distance it looks like the "Peace" symbol, but when you get closer you can see it's actually an overhead view of a B-52.

I received them yesterday, and they are beautiful! My pro-war friends throught I was a hippie until they read it. These pins are the greatest! Thanks a bunch.

April 2, 2003, 08:58 PM
Guys, I bought a few of these pins and like them a lot. I looked on the back and saw a website (http://www.peacepins.com). Looks like DVDTracker ordered a bunch of customized pins at a discount. Great idea! Good for him, and it is much cheaper for us too. I appreciate it.

But ...

I saw this on the top of the PeacePins website:

Just FYI.

Make of it what you will.

April 3, 2003, 03:11 AM
When you order 300 or more of these custom pins, it says we're getting them at-cost, so I don't know how much they're actually making.

On my end, most of the proceeds are going back into care packages & pre-paid phone cards for the troops. See www.operationmilitarypride.org (adopt a soldier) and www.operationuplink.org (phone cards)

Showed em to some pro-war demonstrators in the square and they loved em.

Carlos: They're $2 + $.75 shipping for the order.

Hey...I want more than 10 stickers!! :D The form only allows for an order size of ten.

April 13, 2003, 06:45 PM
Wow, great looking pins. I just ordered 3, although I already know that I'm going to need more than that.

LOL. I was just looking at the pictures of the pins when my extremely anti-war friend walked into my room. She glanced at my screen and said that she was glad I was finally thinking about peace. I just tapped the screen, and she leaned over to read the text on the pin. She sighed, referred to me as something that I can't post here, and then walked out.

cordex mentioned the PeacePins website. Here's an SFGate article (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2003/03/28/BU283744.DTL) that mentions the company behind the site, Delta Spark. The article also mentions another product, apparently from my own town: America, a chain of stores headquartered in Alexandria, Va., sells $7.95 rolls of toilet paper imprinted with pictures of Saddam Hussein, and another with "French kiss this!" Gotta love capitalism. :D DVDTracker, I'm placing a pin order now.

April 27, 2003, 01:31 AM
Delta Spark also runs http://www.supportliberty.com/ :scrutiny:

April 27, 2003, 01:41 AM

Nah, I never wait for the checks to clear. I have good faith in the whole conservative/gun-owner crowd and they have not let me down. No checks have bounced so far!

April 27, 2003, 09:41 AM
If you are worried about the pedigree of the pin supplier there are a number of companies which manufacture custom pins.

as my order was sent and six days later,
USPS delivered my package. Peace pins
look great, I kept one and gave away the
others to buds.

Damn I had fun, fun, fun today at two of
the Derby parties that I attended. The
liberals love that Peace Symbol......at a
distance and when they come to take a
closer look and catch the wording around
the outer edge, I love their reactions.

DVD, I like your newest edition also.
