M1A Doubling

I was at the range today, and I experienced the dreaded "double fire"...

I have a feeling that it was sort of a "Bump Fire" that lots of folks seem to love, although this was purely unintentional.
The condition was: shooting from a bipod on a bench with 3 rds. in the rifle. The first shot went off, and I felt the rifle fire a second round. -The scope smacked me on the nose too...-No wonder they only make semi rifles now!
I really don't think this was a slam fire relating to primers, although I have 5k of the CCI Nato spec. ones coming next week...
Any thoughts?
Is there anything I should check?

were you shooting off a bench? bipod?

If you don't hold onto an m-1a rigidly, you can have it bounce off your shoulder and touch off another round.

Pull the trigger all the way to the rear every time. Don't milk it.

I've seen that happen several times. I've almost done it by not holding the gun properly. There is just something un-natural about shooting off a bench when you have a bi-pod. Bi-pods feel like pogo sticks if you don't hold the gun right.

This could also be due to a defective trigger pack(sear/hammer engagement). I had this problem with the SA unit, and personally know two others that had the same issue.

SA will make it right, if this is the case. I picked up a GI trigger pack, and sent the SA unit off for repairs. It now resides in the spare parts bin "just in case".
