You know what makes me sick??

I walk into the gun store today, knowing that I do not have any discretionary income at this time. But I went anyway. I was lusting I mean looking around at the nice collection of Colts they seem to have gotten in, (Two LW commanders, a Defender, a Double Eagle, couple of nice GMs) and I saw a nice looking stainless Loaded Springfield in the used gun case. The salesman got it out for me, and told me I could take it home for $440 otd.!!..I was about to spend some bill money but..My self-control is improving..

Anyway, What I really hate more than anything is finding a great deal on a gun and not having the money to get it, and then you just KNOW someone who can't fully appreciate like you would, will buy it.

This post has helped some. Thanks.

If it makes you feel any better, I found a lightly used Bushmaster in almost the exact configuration I wanted (it's a 20" and I wanted 16") for $500!!! I had the money for that, but defintely not a new $800. Believe me, I am VERY VERY grateful for this deal. I will appreciate it. And my best friend who found the deal.

But it's my first gun purchase in about three years, so I know how you feel about having to pass up good deals.

If I could sell a cat and buy a gun?!? Who wants to buy a cat? An orange tabby? A tortoise shell female, both spayed. And an 85lb dog that tries to bite you when you catch him doing something wrong, and then you draw your pistol and snap the safety off and put the safety back on and holster it cause you don't want to make a mess in the house...if I didn't like him...

If it is not a big box store, they will probably hold the gun for you with a Down payment. unofficial layaway.

Around here. if I see a good deal or something i have really been loking for, a Hunneybee on the counter will hold it till i gather the cash in a manner that does not arouse the suspicion of she who must be obeyed.

they just write a bill of sale with a hundred as down payment and balance due on delivery, All the shops i deal with do that, only had one that did not honor it. They sold a gun out from under me, but gave me $ 125 back, saying a newbie salesguy sold it before they caught which gun was getting sold. I believe them and have bought more from them.

In exactly one short word: Visa. Ooooh! Great idea!!

Because when the SHTF and EOTWAWKI, there won't be anyone around to send you those credit card bills. Essentially, you get a FREE gun!

Ouch, this tinfoil is chafing my ears...

Where's the store. I'll go buy it and shoot it for you. I'll scan the targets and email them to you. :D

The only time you have money, is when you don't have enough of it lol. I was going to take my tax return and buy a nice KAR98 or Springfield with it, but then the House taxes showed up... ok not too bad, still have $400 to play with... wait, have to buy that gun safe... Oops, still owe my uncle some money... Now I have about $20 left which will go for a reloading die if I can find one lol

This is exactly why I deal with a local store-not a chain. I know them, they know me.

If I tell them I want it but don't have money right now, it goes in the vault with my name on it, no down required. But I make sure I pick it up when I told them I would every time.

If you are a good customer, ask. It couldn't hurt, they may hold it for you.

Believe me, AnthonyRSS, I really know, exactly how you feel. :(

It'll probably be about two years before I can ever buy another gun.

And for those who always seem to pop up and spew the suggestion "VISA", well some of us just don't have it.

Besides that, buying on credit is almost always a bad idea. If you can't lay down the cash, you probably don't really need it.
