I've been in need of a snubbie and yesterday I got a bonus check, so I went off to the Valley Forge gun show today in search of a snubbie. I came home with a nice, used Smith & Wesson Model 640 (no dash) in .38 Special. It has a 3" barrel and factory wood combat grips.
The gun had obviously been fired a bit with lead loads and not cleaned all that well. So, when I brought it home I removed the cylinder and crane, then the sideplate, and swabbed everything down with Shooter's Choice. I'm letting the chambers and bore soak for a bit but I believe I'm going to have to dig out my Hoppe's lead removal cloth to clean the cylinder face and inside the frame.
I also picked up a couple of Winchester white box .38 150 grain (not 158 grain) RNL for practice. In the picture below along with the gun are what I'll carry in it, Speer Lawman 158 grain LSWHP +P "FBI Loads." The knife is my Spyderco Delica which I also carry.
I need to pick up some Bianchi Speed Strips for quick reloading. I can't wait to shoot it and will post a report after I do.
