Just paid $40.00 for 12 of CorBon 440 grn. Anyone know a good source?
Do the new 500's still have cylinder unlatching with recoil?

For more affordable ammo try here....

As far as the cylinder issue...there has been a ton of verbage expended on this subject, but the bottom line is this...no problem with the gun, some shooters have the unlatching situation because of the way they grip the gun during heavy recoil. Most other folks who grip the gun properly and maintain trigger control during the recoil cycle, have no problems with it. Your mileage may vary....

I have been shooting these monsters for a little while now. Tried most of the factory ammo available. Have the three main sizes, 4, 8 and 10 inch. I have expirienced the double fire(actually my nephew did, one handing the 4"). Also the skipping of the cylinder a couple of times. I have come to the conclussion that in each time it was a matter of trigger control. Those things are pretty violent. If you are not aware of your finger on that trigger, you will get these episodes. The triggers are really sensitive, which I really like about them. I wouldn't worry about it, just be aware of it.

PS. If you look around, you should be able to find cheaper ammo. Try the ultamax line. Got the 330gr for $25 for 20. real easy to shoot. One handed with my 8"

I have one of the PC500 Hunters with a 6 1/2" barrel. So far, I haven't had any trouble with it. I also haven't put any factory loads through it. I load for it on my Dillon 550. That keeps the price pretty reasonable. I get Speer 325 gr. JHP for about $20/100, and lead bullets, in 325 to 370 for a little less.

If you want to stick with Cor-Bon, try Natchez. They have reasonable prices for the hot stuff.

My .500 got me into reloading. Now I pay about $.18 per round (after buying brass) and shoot a couple hundred rounds a week :)
You could get set up with a Lee press and everything you need for a couple hundred bucks...pay for it with your first 5 boxes of ammo loaded!

Reloading is the best thing for the 500MAG, I do it and I get to shoot more. :)
