Sounds like a Weatherby .460 Magnum.

Sounds like Ed Hubel and his 458 Hubel Express. He hangs out on the Big Bore forum at www.accuratereloading.com. I think he's about to have a run of brass made for it by Horneber.

Best,
Joe

Thanks for remembering Joe,...Cheygrizz ,we do it
because it is a fun hobby. With good harder brass it will go faster.
But cartridge was made to load slower also, still be better
than others, and most important reloadable 50 times
or more.I posted info here early last week..Here is
a picture Porter...Ed

Say Hubel,

I can't see the rifle cartidges because those three artillery shells are in the way. :) Must be a rush to touch off. Say, have you seen that website where a fellow would videotape guests trying out his 600 nitro express? Evil.

There was a time when I'da been droolin' and slobberin' over having something like that. :) Now, my skinny, arthritic shoulder sez, "You shoot that thing and I'll talk to you all night long!"

Years ago, some buddies with ancient Biggies, single shots, would come out to the ranch. I'd set up five-gallon buckets with some cement in them, out around 600-700 yards. A hit would make a bit of a dust cloud.

Shoot, light a cigarette, pop a top, and then see the dust. :D Made for great Sunday afternoons.

What that picture needs is a 30-06 cartridge to provide a sense of scale.

An educated SWAG is that the middle one is a 458 win mag. That ought to give you some reference.

Art--When a few get together here to shoot it,we have
a ball. Being most are not big bore owners I let them shoot
350 gr, and it still is impressive enough to make them
converts.Have three who are going to do it up in Ruger#1,
after we get the run of brass made.
I put a 350gr at 3500fps into a gelatin block about a
foot square and 3 ft long and it disintegrated in all directions.
Broke the table it was on in two pieces. The rifle are weighted
to 13+ lbs so its not bad. Ed.

What is the basic brass for those beasts?

Gordon,The 458 HE was made from 450 NE brass, and we
are going to get a factory run made for them.To much work to make them from another...The 510 HE made from 475 NE #2
brass....The 700 HE from 50 BMG brass and we are getting cranked up to make them ourselves, from unfired brass.Ed.

Hello there, call me duly impressed! I knew I saw those bad boys before, I tried to post a thankyamuchly a couple days back and the post didn't make it.
I book marked the AA forum and have been studying there off and on.
What weight/speed does the 700 run typically?
Geez Louise, those things make my .458WM a girlie gun, I have shot an 8 bore BP gun that lobbed 1500gn lead slugs at 1500fps and a new love was born but those century old Brit double rifles are a little steep.
What action do your favor?
Thanks for the personal response Ed!

Porter-----The 700 HE will get a 1000 gr bullet to
3200 fps if you want to....You can to put it in bolt actions like
used for 50 bmg, McMillan,Barrett etc, Or use big double rifles or falling block single shots.Good hunting speeds would be lower
and brass would last forever, at 2400- 2600 fps.

Lloyd--The 458 HE in a 13 lb rifle isn't bad at all,Proper recoil
pad and wt does the job.Ed.

The scale of those four rounds makes the 458 WM look bout like a 22 Hornet. :uhoh:
