It's official, Ernest Langdon (formerly associated with Beretta and Sig) now works for Smith & Wesson.

Skunk - it's time to trade in your Berettas for a new pair of S&W 5906's!

The downside is he has closed down Langdon Tactical and will no longer be doing any custom work.

So, is he looking to prove he can be a top shooter with different weapons (Beretta, then Sig, now S&W, next will be Ruger, etc).....or is it for the money????

BTW, I've met Ernest at an IALEFI shoot.

Steve, I couldn't tell you his motivations. I'll ask him in Carolina next month, but that's assuming he wants to tell the real story. I'm guessing S&W offered him a really sweet deal, and that'd be awfully hard to pass up. From what I am seeing, S&W is a real class act now-a-days, and I wouldn't mind being associated with them myself.

As near as I can tell, if you look close, everyone in the professional training field working for gun companies just seem to swap jobs every couple years. Nobody ever comes and leaves, they just go to the next stop on the circuit.

I believe his departure from SIG was due to their shenanigans and he was left feeling a bit put out about things. (just spreading the gossip......)

Here is an excerpt from the letter on his website:

After careful consideration, I have accepted a position as the Director of Federal Law Enforcement and Military Sales at Smith and Wesson. As many of you know, I have long been looking for a way to make a bigger contribution to the U.S. military and the war on terror. Short of re-enlisting, this new position allows me to make that kind of significant contribution.

Damn. I was gonna get a Beretta when I get back, too. My Sig was the last one he ever worked on, officially at least. It was such a good job I was gonna get a Beretta because I love the feel but hate the trigger. Guess not, now.
