Seem to have lost 96 million + bucks.
After seeing that pic with one of our troops holding one of the innocents in another
thread here, this is just sickening. How in God's good name do you lose 96
million ? >

Easy. Just like in Boston, the "big dig" tunnel started at 2 billion dollars, it's now over 18 billion, and it leaks!
Government is even better at wasting money then it is in stealing it from us.

...wads of cash were handed out without being counted properly, according to the inspector general. One U.S. office wasn't cleared to receive cash - and had even asked not to be given any - but got some anyway.
I guess we're trying to turn Iraq into Washington, D.C.

It went into the pockets of politicians/political allies through "contracts".

I watched the segment on TV about the supply Sgt who found the loot.
Tempting for sure to bag a stack or two but my morals would of gotten in the way. I think the Major did the right thing by securing all the funds.
Rumor has it, they are using that money to rebuild Iraq.

How do you lose that much money? Same way you lose pocket change. That's the equivalent amount. A minor mistake here and there with the billions changing hands, and it almost becomes a statistical error.
In reality, some will be stolen by US personnel, some by contractors, some will be simply misplaced, some will be properly spent but improperly accounted for, etc. Just like in any other business transaction, crap happens.

Sheesh, can I ask them not to give me money too? Please, no, I don't want it, ignore this hand outstretched....well, at least it isn't our tax payer dollars....yeah, right, where do they think the money to make up the shortfall will come from? The Ukraine?
