I picked up a SigP230SL .380 really cheap this afternoon. Now, what to load it with? What's the smokinest, most adored defensive ammo for the .380 these days?

Many years ago I carried a colt mustang in my pocket loaded with hydra-shoks. Are the hydra-shoks still the best thing or is something else?

No kidding. I figured a Hydra-Shok vs. Gold Dot debate would erupt. Here's a review/test of a Sig232 and some of the various loads used. Looks like in this case, Cor-Bon and Hydra Shok came out on top of the accuracy department. I carry Hydra-Shok's in my 9mm but I think that was because they were easier to obtain the day I was shopping. I've been very happy with them. Our local PD carries Gold Dots in .40 S&W and they seem to bring a quick end to every problem they shoot them into. (I realize that 9mm and .40 S&W data doesn't necessarily carry over into .380 results.) Hope this article helps.

Thanks Murphster! That's a very interesting article. Right now I've got the Winchester 95gr SXT's loaded but I've got my eye out for some of those Corbon +P's.

I had a 230SL that didn't like Hydra-Shoks at all and would consistently jam on them. I tried Speer Gold Dots and Remington Golden Sabers without a problem. What ever you use make sure your 230 likes it.
