I am down to only one Smith J frame these days. Model 60, three inch heavy barrel, brushed stainless, tritium sights, bobbed hammer, DAO , a set of Craig Speigle's smooth wood boot grips, and a well worked over trigger. I carry this cross draw in a tension saddle holster from Sam Andrews.
I do have two really nice Taurus 85CHs, that I think pretty highly of also. One of this pair usually rides in my jeans pocket in a little holster by Andrews, when dress dictates that or nothing.

Lately I've had the hots for that 340PD. Not as a shooter, but as a pocket companion. I don't have enough in the piggy-bank yet, but..............

Thanks Frenchy,
That little M60 looks nice :)
And I'll put it on my screensaver if you don't mind.
A guy (or Gal) just can't have too many Smith's.......

A S&W 342 PD is on my list. Not as punishing as the 340 .357 model, but still effective (.38 sp. +p). Only 10.8 oz, internal hammer. Great backup gun.

S/W 640, yeah there's lighter stuff out there, but it conceals great, carry's easy and is still a fun gun for extended range sessions (well with 38's at least ;) )

My only J is a Mod 60-4 that I am getting a 940 cylinder fitted to which should be a great shooter.

Model 60 Ladysmith. I think the Ladysmiths are some of the best revolvers Smith currently makes.

342PD. Perfect pocket (or ankle) carry piece. Much more practical and effective than the 340 IMHO.

Greeting's Perfessr-
Yes Sir, she looks identical to yours! Lot of people forget,
this was the very first stainless steel handgun ever
produced; way back yonder in 1965.
Some of the very early ones even took a trip to southeast
Asia, and saw limited use by our troops during the
Viet-Nam war. Made for a really good life assurance policy.

I'm pretty happy with the 340PD. Like Fed said, that puppy kicks like a mule with .357 loads, but is still controllable albeit a little slow back on target. Also after three rounds of 158Gr 357, both Fed and myself developed a rather large flinch.
Shooting .38 Special and .38 Special +P out of it, it was surprisingly accurate and very controllable. The main reason I got the .357 is ammo versatility in a pinch. I carry it loaded with .38 special +P.

ruger357...fordsguns put the insert in when I had it hard chromed....Horace does nice work....all the writing on this gun was lasered so it was lost when re-finished..but as you can see, he put back the smith logo on the faceplate and caliber on the barrel....

Yeah, I need to do the red ramp insert thingy also; I've a 637 Airweight that I use that fluorescent orange sight paint on, but it eventually wears off and I have to repaint it.
