I just watch a movie "the beast" and in one of the scene the Russian tank crew (play by Jason Patrick) fixed the broken RPG 7 trigger group with Enfield part .I think I saw he use the knife and ply something out from the Enfield rear sight part and put it on top of RPG trigger group .Is this Hollywood gunsmithing or there is some fact to it, Just curious in case I might have to fix my broken RPG 7 trigger group . :)

I just chaulked it up to Hollywood gunsmithing. What are the chances that any part from an English gun made in the 40s would fit a Russian gun made in the 50s or 60s with no tools or modifications? I suppose it could have been a spring, but would a liberal, college educated tank driver have known with such confidence that it would work just by looking at the Enfield from across the room?

Good movie though. Lots of underfolder AKs and a Makarov in it. I caught sight of a Isreali FAL in use by the Mujahadine(SP?) too.

Couldn't ever figure it out, but I'll go with spring. Seems like the only thing that would hae any chance of fitting.

"RPG kaboom tank!"
Great movie - the scenes with tank fire in the beginning really IS live tank fire. Actual Soviet equipment the Israelis had laying about used in the movie. Good movie!

the scenes with tank fire in the beginning really IS live tank fire. Actual Soviet equipment the Israelis had laying about used in the movie. I always wondered where they got Soviet tanks for a movie made before the wall fell. I guess that explains where the Izzy FAL came from. It a shame they couldn't come up with a real Mi-8 too or even better a "HIND".

What were those tanks, T72s?

T-64s I believe - been a while,(12 years), since I have seen it.

The tank is T 62A most likely donated by Serian or Egyptian from Yom kipper war. I still can not figured out what spring you folks refering too ,I watch the DVD and I paused and zoom the scene ,it look like he put the knife below on the right sight of the handguard by the base of rear sight then he put something on top of the trigger group of RPG .There is no spring on the rear sight of #1MkIII Enfield .I have been thinking for 10 years that it was the firing pin from the Enfield that he swap with the RPG but it couldn't be .Oh well it is still excellent movie .

No way an Enfield firing pin could even fit in the RPG trigger group housing. At the top of the RPG trigger is a sear arrangement that releases an external hammer, which hits a vertical firing pin, that goes through the launcher body to hit a primer on the rocket motor body. If it is truly possible to "MacGuiver" an Enfield piece to fix an RPG problem, it would have to be a pin or a spring.
