I will start by admitting I'm a French basher, I don't bash all the French, but those that I bash, they know who they are. And those who don't agree with the French government, they know who they are as well, and they chorus what we say.

But I started to think about why we bash the French, (aside from it being so easy to do) and it has dawned on me...

It's about patriotism, and the historic American way of thinking. It looks something like this:

Americans stand up for freedom, regardless where and when. There is a sense of morality (regardless if in the end it is helpful or harmful) but definitely a sense of morality, and standing up for what one believes.

And so people who just roll over, who don't have moral convictions, who will not stand up for what is right (like the French PM...) makes most Americans want to barf. :barf:

The second part of that is support: I have a good friend that is deployed; and so the LEAST I can do is show him some support. Others have brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, fathers, mothers etc.. who are out there, putting their life on the line for FREEDOM. And if the French aren't for them, then as the Bible says, "If you aren't for me, then you are against me".... and so we will go ahead and poo-poo all over the French for their spinelessness.

I have put away my German knife, I refuse to use it until the Germans stop acting like the french, as much as I love Germany, they are on my boycott list until they "suck it up" and do the right thing.

My boyz are out there putting their life in the line of fire; the LEAST I can do is support them by bashing those who would bash them.

So it's not so much a "french" thing as it is a "coward" thing and a "not supporting our boyz" thing.

I always thought words like "coward, spineless, dishonorable, etc" were just synonyms for the word French!

I am angry at the French for one reason.:fire: They only oppose the US in order to prop-up their ego. France likes to believe that they have the influence and power they had in the Middle Ages. They resent not being credited with "inventing" modern western government and culture. In short, they are "want-to-be's" on the decline that refuse to take the steps/changes that could halt their downward spiral. They shout to be heard but few listen anymore, their feelings are hurt, just like a sickly/impotent old man.:scrutiny:
