OK, I was just reading your "promote this site" thread and I decided to break my silence.

I was a member of TFL for over a year and never posted. I have been on here for some time now, and I think this is my first post.

Why?

It's the darn, posts must be related to firearms clause on this general discussion forum description.

Every time I come here, I see many posts not related to firearms. As a newbie, though, I hesitate to participate. It is hard to "settle in" and adopt a new board as a home away from home if there is no true open discussion forum.

So what is it?

edited to add - looks like I've posted 7 other times. Still, since my life does not revolve around guns (though I own several) - you can see why I and maybe others don't feel so comfortable "hanging out" here more.

Why are there occasionally OT threads?

Well, it's kinda like the "cops can't be everywhere at once where crimes are committed" thing. Moderators aren't around 24/7. That's why there's the handy "report this link to moderator" button.

Why is there no "General" General Discussions forum on THR? This topic has been posted multiple times already - please use your Search option for the reasons why we do not have a non-gun general forum.

You'll find it's easy to make friends and find out about each other here without having a General forum where we'll end up posting things like, "So, what's your favorite toothpaste?" Find out what members are local to you and go out to the range. :)
