I've read of different generations of Glocks...1st, 2nd, 3rd. What's the difference between each? Is one generation more desirable over the other?

Check out Glock Talk

http://glocktalk.com

and do a search. You'll find all the info you seek there, but in a nutshell it boils down to the frame design; grip texturing, fingergrip and rail attachment, pretty much in that order I, II and III.

Some will argue that a Gen I is a collector type item, others just shoot em. Some don't like the finger grips of the Gen III. I guess you could add the rail design as either a Gen III (b) or maybe call it a Gen IV, but for the most part it falls into the Gen III category.

Not much help I know, but if ya go over to that site, you'll find plenty of opinion.

Adios

there is a lost gen of the 2.5 nature. it is the ultra rare finger groove/ no rail version or maybe the rails/ no fingergroove version. one or the other, but they only made it for a few months.
