bobcat weapons has a nifty little new toy out; like their other mp-5 clones, but now they offer a "pistol" version. i'm thinking about getting one but i've had a hard time finding any reviews on it and the other message boards are a little spotty. any help? i don't expect a lot of accuracy but it had better go "bang" every time for $1400.

Just a suggestion?
I've heard spotty quality reports on Bobcat. Plus the price is pretty high. You might want to consider an AK pistol. Basically a Krinkov without a stock.

I'm sure if you shopped around, you could find it cheaper than $550. Or heck, build your own. Either way, you could buy nearly three of them for the cost of one possibly shoddy MP5 clone.
AR-15 pistols are decent also. Bit expensive.

This whole AK pistol fad has me, not upset, but just kinda irritated. Those aren't krinkovs, but everyone and their brother sells them as krinkovs. The barrel is about, what, two inches too long and the gas system is too long as well. They basically took an AK, cut the barrel off at the gas block, took the stock off, and called it a krinkov. Blah. That's all I have to say on that :neener:

yeah, i seem to be hearing some pretty spotty reports about the bobcat weapons. some love theirs others hate 'em. i was considering an ak pistol too. might as well, i guess. at least i won't have to buy new mags. with the barrel cut down i wonder if there would be a dwell time problem for the gas system.

I simply do not get the AK pistol thing. The AR pistol at least has the buffer assy coming back past the PG to balance it out some. But the "AK pistols" are just butchered stockless AKs. What is the point?
What am I missing here?
The Carbon-15 looks like something I might actually be able to fire one handed or two handed like a standard pistol, but the AK would just be like firing an AK rifle without being able to put it in my shoulder.

Because I can, and because it looks fun.
In my state, CCW is only for pistols. Not shotguns, not rifles. So, I want something large to conceal if need be.
The 5.56mm NATO round is only useful at high velocities. At extremely low velocities, it's marginally (at best) better than a pistol round but likely less accurate than a good number of pistol rounds. 7.62x39mm is slightly more efficient at lower velocities. Much moreso than 5.56mm. Plus, if one is creative, the sling can be employed as a stabilizing device. In other words, with practice and creativity, it's a decent AK at limited ranges.

From the International Police Supply website liked to my Harry Tuttle; This article on the Bobcat Weapons BW-5 rifle appeared in the December 2005 issue of Small Arms Review magazine.
Are they publishing in a parallel universe?
