20 yeras ago the garand was something special to me but with the importation of the FAL and FN49, it's just another battle rifle.

Bought mine in the 21-30 range. The Garand is still in my safe. Unfortunately, I'm not still in the 21-30 range.

I'm 49 and got my Garand from DCM about 20years ago , cost me $165 but probably worth more now . Took it out and shot a few clips through it today , still as accurate as ever !

They are mine for now but someday they will go to my sons. I consider myself the caretaker for classic battle rifles.

My 14 year old brother has one, but all the others I see at the range belong to people old enough to have actually used them in ombat, many of which actually had (65+year old Korea and WWII vets).

33-year-old Garand owner, here...who really should have gotten one 10 years ago, instead of only 3 months ago.

I'm a southpaw, and my dad always had interesting rifles for me to hunt with. One of my early teen hunting rifles was a sporterized Garand.
Now I'm closing on 50 years old, and am getting my first military Garand in a few hours. Dad is passing along a CMP Winchester with National Match stamped all over it. He got it about 20 years ago, and it has not been shot since he received it. He's bringing it to me tonight. :D
Cool.

Im 35. The M1A is my favorite rifle, so naturally the Garand would be a close second, or third!

I'm in the 41-50 group, however, I was 28 when I ordered it from the DCM and 30 when it arrived. That was the old system. 18 months to the very day from when I ordered it, it arrived from Anniston. Course the price was right... $165. Oh and it shoots 1.5 MOA with loads that it likes. :neener:

StuporDave...
Don't wait! Get it now. I follow one of the Garand boards and there is talk of them drying up at the CMP within 2 to 3 years. This is a bunch of serious collectors, these guys buy their max of 8 per year all at once. And they claim that they are not reselling them. I've seen posted photos of these guys with 20-30 Garands in a military style rack against the wall in their bedroom or basement. One guy has even run out of room to store them in his house. Why someone would want 20-30 of the same rifle I'll never know.
But there is also a rumor that there is hundreds of CRATES of Garands stacked from the floor to the ceiling at Anniston full of Garands that have been returned from Greese. CMP officials will not confirm nor deny this rumor since they are afraid it will hurt the current inventory sales.
