I normally carry my Para P14 year round, but will occasionally switch it out with my Model 57 S&W 41 mag. It just depends on how I feel that particular day. Weather rarely plays a part in my carry decision.

Since the weather here is so unpredictable, I change what I carry depending on what I wear on a daily basis...business attire requires something smaller, colder jacket weather I can carry something larger.

So the weather gets warm and for some magic reason you decide to carry a less powerful gun? Somewhere in there, I don't see the reasoning connection. I know the excuse is going to be something like needing to carry a lighter or smaller gun because you are wearing lighter or smaller clothing, or that it is too much trouble trying to find summer weight clothing you can use while carrying a larger sized gun, but the value or your life and the lives of loved ones isn't less during the summer. In fact, the potential risk to you and your loved ones may be higher as many criminal types are fair weather actors. They don't like to go out in the cold and wet anymore than you, so when things get nice, they are more likely to be on the prowl as well. So why would you be carrying a less effective gun?

double naught your point is well taken and when possible I do carry the 40 or even a 1911. Usually during the week I wear a sport coat or siut so the larger gun. Even on weekends I will try to wear a shirt that is not tucked in. As I read on the Firing Line one time Hawaiian shirt equals gun, but somes time its a tucked in golf shirt and then the P11 goes in my pocket.

Because for some people, convenience counts.

For some people, "having a gun" is enough.

For some people, their Summer gun shoots people dead just fine.

Let's not get histrionic, here.

Picking up a S&W 637 for the summer.

Dont think gun size is too important, its the ability to hit a given target that I prefer. I dont feel to undergunned when I go from a 45 to a 38. I normally carry a full size Kimber 45 or BHP 9mm when weather permits. But if I happen to be carrying a snub 38 or a NAA 22mag. when its hot, its not too big of a deal.

2 1/2" S/W 19 in summer, 4" S/W 19 in winter, both when scared ;)

Can get by with a wider selection of cover in summer with the shorter barrel. Might try a IWB for the 4" for year round but I drive a lot so I'm doubting that would work out real well.

But what about the people who carry mouseguns year round? :D

I do.

Taurus PT100 .40 cal for winter use. Easier to conceal.

Glock 19 in the summer.

Gets piping hot in Tucson.

Easier to conceal the G19 for me in the summer instead of the full size Taurus.

For the most part, it is a G19 all year long. But, there are occasion when I like to put my Ruger SP-101 on, or even my Ruger P-90.

My first choice of carry during winter duty is: Primary, BUG 1, BUG 2. Primary will be in shoulder rig, BUG 2 IWB, dominant side, BUG 3 on ankle.

I believe in dressing around the weapon.

But in summer casual, shoulder rigs are not practical, so I'll go with the twin Makarovs IWB + ankle; and in shorts, IWB only.

During cold weather months, I carry a Kimber Compact. Summers bring higher activity and less clothing. I switch to a smaller and lighter carry gun--generally a .357 snubby. I do long daily bicycle rides on which I carry in a fanny pack; the weight becomes more important to me in the summer time.

Coat or vest weather I prefer my Para P.14 Limited.

As clothes come off gun gets smaller. Springfield Champion, Kimber Ultra Carry, Colt Gov't 380 (For when I'm almost nekkid:eek: )

Normally a G-22. When I'm wearing shorts or sweats w/o a belt it's a Colt Mustang .380 in Thunderwear.

I carry a NAA guardian a lot in the summer time due to the heat and humidity, when i can i carry my glock 27 which is what i usually carry in winter.

Carrying is part of my lifestyle, it is not my lifestyle. I already make some compromises in order to carry i don't intend to mold my life around worst case scenarios if i did i'd carry an AR or FAL on a sling wherever i go. But of course i woudn't go anywhere because of worst case scenario.

Anyone who talks about me compromising the life of my loved ones is an assh*le pure and simple.

I switched from a full sized .45 to a Kahr MK9 one summer, and I never switched back when cold weather returned.

This thread brings to mind the old adage:

"When you need to conceal, no gun seems small enough; when you need to defend, no gun seems large enough."

I like the small gun, because it goes everywhere. Extra mags help make up for size.

That is mostly jeans and polo shirts. Weather doesn't make much difference as to what I wear. My day to day carry gun is a SIG 220-ST-45. For those times I might wear shorts or sweats in the summer the SIG is just not practical. Then I carry a S&W 442 with a Barami Hip Grip. Good shooting;)

Not I...

Rain or shine (with an emphasis on the RAIN part), I pack a Glock 19.;)

Usually I carry a G-26, but if I use a fanny pack I might use my P232. I have a P-32 for a pocket gun. The main thing is having a gun on your person.

I probably will get a keltec p32 for summer carry where discretion is required. I currently carry a ppk-s iwb and wear a vest over my shirt but that wont work now that the weather is getting warmer.

My Cop (concealed off duty) .357 goes everywhere I go in summer or winter. I believe that ANYONE can conceal at minimum a .357 or 9mm derringer so why go with less?

I'd rather have a two or four shot .357/9mm derringer or Rohrbaugh/Kahr MK9/Kahr PM9 9mm than a .32 or .380 automatic mousegun anyday.

I always carry extra ammo as well, that's not hard to do.

I typically don't carry larger caliber guns in cold weather just more of them :D

And more ammo
