Help with ammo please.

I just picked up a job as a on site security officer in a store that has had several armed robberies. I pack a Glock G22 and have 180 Gr. GDHP GoldDot ammo. I was thinking if it came down to a shot out ( hope not ) what would be the best bullet to have. what I'm looking for is a bullet that will stop a man, but i don't want over penetration i want the bullet to stop in-side the body, no exit. Keep in mind i have a Glock, I can't use a lead bullet, it has to be jacketed of some short. Thanks for your help.

I think you are quite close to exactly where you want to be. Most of the good, high quality JHP's will suffice. The top of the line seems from all the talk to be Federal Hydro Shocks.
Get any of the good ones,TRAIN & PRACTICE till you can put them where they belong, keep your firearm in tip top shape, cleaned and appropriately lubed and don't worry about it.

When it comes to 1 shot stops 155-165 gr. range works better than 180 gr.
There isn't over penetration with the 155-165 gr. range either.
Two quality choices are:
Federal Hydra-Shok 155 gr. JHP (93% 1 shot stop)
Remington Golden Saber 165 gr. JHP (94% 1 shot stop)

I would prefer something a bit lighter for your application. However, Ayoob says the Winchester "Gold" Ranger Talon is the best 180 grain. It's hard to go wrong in .40 with any full power ammo, but I've heard that the medium velocity 165 grainers aren't real reliable in cycling. My choices would start with:
R-P 165 gr. GS
FED 155 gr. HYDRASHOK (P40HS2G)
CCI 155 gr. GD
or similar.

165gr Speer Gold Dot would be my 1st choice.

Check out Aquila IQ ammo here (http://www.aguilaammo.com/iq.htm).
Different stuff. Other than Aquila I'd load Hydrashoks.

In .40 I prefer the 155gr Gold Dots... 165's are good too, I stay away from the 180's because I prefer the higher velocity of the 155's

Federal Hydra-Shok 155 gr. JHP (93% 1 shot stop)
Don't believe the silly OSS hype.
Any of the modern JHPs (Gold Dot, Golden Saber, Ranger-T) would be fine.

Most one shot stops with a handgun are pure luck.
The Remington Golden Saber, Winchester Ranger and the Speer Gold Dot would be my recommendations. All of them feature good bullets that will do their job.
Try a couple of boxes of each and then carry whatever shoots the best in your gun.
What you need to look for is total reliability and good accuracy in your particular gun.
Practice Safe.

Check out le.atk.com scroll about half way down the page you'll see "wound ballistics workshop" click on each of the dept.'s listed...........very good reading.
Talked with a Federal L.E. Rep. a few eeks ago, said the only reason they still have Hydra-Shoks on the books is because folks are still buying them.
