Tomorrow I will be taking a beginning handgun class at burro canyon, los angeles CA. I have been shooting for a few years, but it is a requirement to take the basic class, which is cool with me since maybe I can be broken of a few bad habits. I will post a review of my experience with this class if anyone is interested. Here is the web site for anyone who wants to check it out.

Let us know how your course goes. I used to live in Irvine and I try to get out to SoCal about once a year. There are a number of training courses here in Texas, but to go on vacation and a shooting class, well thats a good vacation for me. Hope its worthwhile.

I took a friend to a Firearmstraining course at Burro Canyon a few years ago. I wasn't present for the lecture part, but watched the live fire exercises and they looked like they were doing a good job. My buddy enjoyed the class and said he got a lot out of it. He ended up going for some further training with FT.com.

I took that class a couple of years ago and had a lot of fun. I had hoped to pick up some pointers on what I could do better but it didn't happen. Apparently, shooting the middle out of the target caused them to concentrate on others - the woman to my left had a Taurus that switched between FTF and FTE and caused me some real heatburn as she struggled with it; I spent kept one eye on her muzzle and didn't hesitate to summon help for her. At the time ammo at the class was cheaper than I could find retail so their reloads were the better choice.

Burrow Canyon is a great place to shoot run by a good group of people. They have held many BBQs and such in the past for groups like the Second Amendment Sisters and CRPA.
They were short of funds and time to build an awning for the pistol range, so they bought the materials and a bunch of my friends and I built the awning. We had a great time and did it because we wanted to support the range, but we were given membership access to the range for a year in appreciation.
If you live in Southern California, definitely head up to Burrow Canyon and support the range. You'll be glad you did.
