I was in a local pawn shop today and found a shotgun that looked interesting.
I was kind of looking for a semi in 20 guage to start my son on and they had a
Beretta AL2 in that guage. 28" mod choke.
It was lightweight and in pretty good shape.
The wood was perfect, as was the receiver. The barrel has one small rust spot
and the vent rib had a place where something had hit it and bent it in between
the supporting pieces. Looking at the barrel it didn't look as if the ding had bent
or damaged it that I could see. Trigger was nice and the action very smooth.
I did a search here and came up blank. Anyone know about this gun?
The asking price was $299 which seemed like a good place to start from.

Thanks,
Steve Smith

I have never seen one, but it is one of Beretta's first gas operated autos. It was only made fro 2 or 3 years in 1973-75. Blue Book says 100% gun is worth about $330, 95% about $275.

Hope this helps. :)

The gun I teethed on. Reliable is a single descriptive word to use when talking about this shotgun. The recoil spring in the stock is an area to check on this old of a beretta, it rusts and gets weak, and they are factory available. The price is too steep- $250 sounds about right.

Thanks guys. I'm suprised how little I could find on this one. Even a Google search turned up just about nothing. Supposed I was kind of shocked at a Beretta shotgun anything near this price. I was thinking about going back with $250 cash and just laying it on the counter for total OTD price. This is a pawn shop after all.

Any good ideas on checking the barrel? I'm a little worried the ding may have done some damage. I was going to try taking a rod and patch and running it down to see if it stuck or felt tighter at that point. I already sighted down it and it looked pretty straight.

Thanks for the help,
Steve

The barrel for the 300,301,302,303 and browning B-80 will fit that shotgun. There is one listed on ebay, was $50 yesterday- I paid $200 for my barrel nib. The 302 chokes are drop-in style and the 303 series has the very common "mobil choke". The B-80 uses invector chokes, aka;win,moss,browning- not the invector plus exclusive to browning/winchester/usrac.
