Does anybody know of a "holster" type thing sized to fit a Surefire type flashlight?

I've looked and haven't seen anything like that. Closest thing I could find was an OC holster that was quite a bit too big.

Surely there is some better way than just a hip pocket ...?

thanks, TP

There is a slew of 'em. Surefire proper has a variety, from hard carriers to nylon to leather, then most every major handgun leather maker has some, as do many kydex makers.

Are you looking for a particular style or kind?

3 holsters from Surefire (http://www.surefire.com/maxexp/main/co_disp/displ/carfnbr/253/sesent/00) :D

I have the polymer one. Great holster.

TallPine.. I have found the BBC or Big Bag Company...out of El Monte Ca. works great....depends on the surefire model...but the pepper spray pockets work great....top closure, heavy nylon web material, belt loop and not expensive. Check a police supply shop, or military surplus. If you can't find the BBC...drop me a PM.

Just something simple ... what I had in mind was a cordura-type pouch that slides on a belt and has a velco flap.

Cabela's doesn't have anything like that in their catalogue even though they have a large variety of flashlights. Walmart used to have a wide selection of various little pouches to fit cell-phones and cameras and whatever that I figured I could find one that would work for a few bucks, but as always they have dropped all of that and used the space for something else. :(

I'm kind of in a time bind now as it was primarily for my daughter who is moving out of state real soon. I got her one of those Brinkman Maxfires so she could have a bright light that she could carry everywhere.

which model surefire are you using?

Tadgear has an excellent kydex belt holster here.

Surefire will have what you want though it'll be pricey, as will Uncle Mike's.

Their is a line of pouches called Ripoffs from the Reeline company that I have a number of that are high quality and less expensive. I have a number of them and really like them

I have Surefire's plastic holster on my belt, and it works very well.

What model Surefire do you have? I tried carrying on the belt a looong time ago and much prefer a model with a pocket clip.

Actually, it's not a real Surefire at all, but rather a clone called a Maxfire. uses the same 123 (2) batteries as a Surefire.

I use the Wilson Combat carrier that holds a Surefire/clone and a spare mag, but they also make a leather(or sharkskin) carrier just for the light.

www.concealco,com AKJ Concealco LLC has a very nice and reasonably priced leather holster for a Surefire. I have one and like it very much.

Thought so. It doesn't have a belt loop per say, but that's what the malice clip is for. I've carried one around without issues for a while.

Another more versitle option I blanked on when replying yesterday would be a maxpedition sheath

I used a Spec Ops brand Light Sheath Deluxe to carry my Surefire around in Iraq. It had a Velcro flap and a blue-green filter at the bottom so you could use the light to read maps and stuff without blinding everyone.

I still can't believe what they charge for a little bit of cordura and velcro.

The "holster" for my 2-D Maglite is a short piece of nylon boot lace, doubled and tied in a hard knot. I "larks head" this around my belt (2") and slip the maglite down in the resulting loop. The bell on the bulb end keeps it from sliding all the way through. :)

The only reason that I haven't used this method with the Maxfire is that it is so light and I'm afraid I will lose it - you know when you do or do not have a 2D Maglite hanging on your belt.

I just may try to figure how to make something for the Maxfire ...

You could carry the Thunder Ranch Tactical Illumination System™ with innovative Tiger Ring™ and just leave it hanging on your hand all day and night  :p :D Saves on buying holsters.... And it sounds cool as heck, too.

Hope y'all know I'm just havin' a little fun. No criticisms intended.

You could whip up your own with a bit of seat belt and shock cord....

I have one from Comp-Tac (http://www.comp-tac.com) that I like a lot. Easy-on and easy-off.

I have the 6P and a polycarbonate holster on at all times I'm clothed. I've been "made" several times in a long shirt, ppl think I'm CCW'ing, even though I'm not (yet). Even had one cop come up and question me quietly, I commended him on how he handled it. His hand stayed near his sidearm, but he was polite and asked what the bulge was on my left hip. :P

The Blackhawk/CQC folks make a nice light holder that clips on the belt. Made of carbon fiber, you can get it in any color you like, as long as you like black that is.

I have a Don Hume leather belt holster for my twintask. Found it at a gunshop in the holster section.

A $15 holster for a $23 light. :)

The best light from Surefire (IMHO) is the G2, $34.00 full price; I recently bought 3 at $29.00 light weight, and tough. Get the yellow one, find it easy.

Get a Glock Mag pouch, 9mm (Is there any other?) cut it a bit shorter, fit it to your belt ($5.00!) place in sink, slowly pour a kettle full of boiling water on it, force lens end in to it, do it a couple of times, magazine in front, light behind it.
Go to an IDPA match, it still is a fine mag pouch. Then you have the two allowed.
