I remember seeing some data a few years back that showed the foot pounds of energy differance between rounball's,sabots and buffalo bullets. It seems like there was about 400 fp of energy more with the sabots and buff's.

Can anyone provide me with the info I need?

Well, all you need to figure it out is the projectile weight and velocity at the muzzle.

The forumla is:

(velocity*velocity) * bullet weight / 450400 = foot pounds of energy.

So, say we have a .45 ACP bullet, 230 grains, going 900 fps.

That would be:

900 * 900 * 230 / 450400 = 413.6 footpounds of energy.

Thats good info mike.

The problem is that I don't know what the velosity is on a round patched 50 cal ball.
