Question on camp carbine mags

I was wondering if anyone knew what type of magazines the Marlin Camp Carbine takes? I believe at least some of the 9mm carbines take some type of S&W magazines. Does anyone know what magazines fit the .45 versions? Are they unique or do they take 1911 mags?

I believe the 9s accept S&W 59 Series magazines. No idea on the 45 version but my guess would be 1911 magazine.

The Camp 45 uses 1911 magazines.

The Camp 9s take S&W 59-series magazines. The Camp 45s take 1911 mags.

Good luck, check in at Gunbroker (http://www.gunbroker.com/) and Auctionarms (http://www.auctionarms.com/) to see if you find one.

I have a Camp .45 and I've noticed that some mags don't want to seat fully into the weapon, depending on the followers. Mostly, I had problems with Mec-Gar mags not working, although I have a couple others (CMC, Kimber, Wilson) which won't work. Off the top of my head, I can't remember which ones though.

I've noticed this as well, but I don't think it's due to the followers. Rather, some 1911 mags have a square cutout at the top rear, while other have a half-round cutout. The latter won't fully seat in the Marlin's magwell. Other than not using them or modifying them, I don't know if there's a fix that can be done to the gun w/o affecting reliability.

So far the only thing that has prevented me seating a magazine has been the danged magazine safety. I'ved used the original Marlin mag, Shooting Stars, Mec Gars, and some OEM Springfields. The mag release does stink so I wouldn't be surprised if it wouldn't let some seat right.
