Has anyone out there seen or heard of the Ruger Alaskan hitting the market as of yet? My local dealers say that the guns are "allocated". In the past that has meant above suggested prices. Are they out there yet and what is the going price.

As reported over on the Ruger board - 1st batch shipped to Alaska about two weeks ago - Ruger said they'd start shipping to the lower 48 in 2 weeks (which is now).

They are starting to appear. There is one for sale on Gunbroker (http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=32312733) for ONLY $875. Local dealers are quoting high $500's/low $600's for them when they come, which should be in the next couple of weeks. I'm passing on the Gunbroker auction, the price is ridiculous.

In stock at our store here in Anchorage, we got them about two weeks ago.

Like stated the first shipment went to Alaska.Supposedly selling fast.The second shipment should be anytime for the rest of us. I'm getting itchy waiting.I've had one on order for about three months.I'm going with the 454 Casull instead of the 480 Ruger.I like being able to use the 45Colt in it.I was quoted 650.00.I'm making a trade with my dealer. Looks like I'll have a 50.00 difference I'll have to cough up.

Heh heh. I like these guns. Have no need for one (would top out at .45 Colt, myself), but I hope they work out for Ruger.

If the Hollywood folks can put aside their autoloader bigotry, the gun is a natural for action flicks. ;)

Considering the seller on Gunbroker the high price doesn't surprise me at all. :barf:
