so i sold my business and it closes in a couple weeks. that means i'll have some spare change. that means the gun collection will grow. first order of business will be a PTR-91 with a carry handle, a bi-pod and a red dot. in my search for the perfect red dot, i came across this on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=66827&item=7155885101&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
its TruGlo's 2x red dot with a 2.5 MOA dot and they seem to be selling for around $50-$60.

what'ya think? anyone have one? are they durable? hold zero? any input appreciated. it fits all my criteria without breaking the bank so i'm hoping to hear good things.

I bought a different Tru Glow sight a few weeks ago. It's nice and compact and light; unfortunately, the red dot makes me fear my retina is being burned. It's excruciatingly bright. I hope putting a tired battery in it will help.

Hmm.Mine came w/an 11 way brightness adjustment as the top knob.
I bought one for my Ruger MKII last summer.Paid about $40 from Gander Mountain. It works just fine.I have since moved it to my Hi-Point carbine. It seems much more at home there.

I saw one get destroyed this last weekend, it was on a Marlin .45-70. It shattered the front lens but it still worked.

I have seen them on e-bay and was interested too. Might have to give one a try.

I have one mounted on top of my AR. Not the exact same model you have pictured though. It holds zero and is nice and clear. I like it. I'll see if I can find a pic...

thanks all, i think this might be the ticket. on Tru-Glo's website, they list this particular one amongst their Xtreme  models and at the same time list it in with their standard red-dots. hhhmmm. heck for ~$50 you can't go too wrong. at worst it'll end up on a .22 or something. i like the 2x magnification and the nice and small dot. i didn't want a 8 MOA dot like most of them i see. 2.5 MOA seems juuuuuust right. this one would go on a semi-auto .308. hopefully not as punishing as the .45-70. it seems odd that it would be destroyed as they are supposed to be able to hold up to .50 cal black powder guns. but i guess you can't expect too much for $50 right? any more opinions or comments are welcome!

The one I have is just the dot, no magnification. I think it is the 45mm version, i don't remember. The dot is 5moa iirc.
Here are 2 pics of it on the AR.....
