Does anyone own one of these as advertised in the gun rags?

Are they worth the $300?

Are M-48 Yugo Mausers "worth" $300? Yes and no. They are physically excellent rifles, and would cost a lot than that to manufacture today. But given the market for Yugo Mausers, $300 is absolutely on the high side. If I had the money, I would spend it on a mint condition Persian Mauser before getting one of Mitchel's Yugos. The only real advantage of their rifles is that they clean off the worst of the cosmoline and put it in a neat white box.

There was a bloke at the range one mornong who spend quite a bit on one of Mitchell's Mauser's rifle's and scope's and myself, the owner, my shooting buddy, and another very competant shooter tried to get this thing zero'd but it just fought us tooth and nail until we eventully found the rings were backwards and wrong. He also has a tenedency to call every Mauser, especially Yugo Mauser's, "German" Mauser's, which thewy are nnot, and which only tend to drive up their price.

Seems like more style than substance to me.

What cosmo said.

For a good shooting bolt rifle, they are a good deal. For a collectible Mauser, not really, considering Issued grades can be had quite often for $70-80.

Same gun Mitchells is cleaning up and selling for $119.95, and from a very reputable dealer.

M48 is not worth $300, even prettied up.

would be interesting to get one of those k98 snipers and a fixed up 91/30 sniper for a wall decoration ;)

It was well worth it to me. I bought the better one and it's in mint perfect condition. Wood, metal and all accs. are 100%. Absoutley beautiful rifle.

Not worth much more that $100 to me. For less than $300 a person can get a far better mauser such as a russian capture K98, czech 98/22, swedish M96, or a persian 98/29. The Yugos may be in really nice condition, but they are on the low end of the crapheap as far as quality goes.
