We're going to be doing a series of open carry marches around the state here in WI.

I'd appreciate any insight from Ohio members on what and what not to do.

Thanks for any replies.

Get ahold of the folks at www.ohioccw.org

I believe they organized all the open carry walks. Good luck!

I participated in the first Ohio open carry walk in Cincinnati. It was billed as just that: a walk, not a march. We did not walk in the street or carry banners or signs of any kind. All were asked not to wear clothes with slogans or camo. We kept to the sidewalks, obeyed all traffic signals, and left the neighborhood cleaner than we found it. It was planned before the Ohio Supreme Court had ruled regarding open carry and concealed carry -- so Ohioan for Concealed Carry (OFCC) was not an official sponser. (They became involved in later walks after the court ruling.) Police were everywhere, both visible and not. Antis tried to provoke an incident. For example, one young gal walked on my heels and grabbed at my gun several times. I did not allow her foolishness to create a scene, even though one may have been justified. One blissninny stood at the corner muttering, "Potential muderer. Potential muderer." as each person passed.

My advise is this: Do not MARCH. Do not assemble or move in a way that makes a parade permit necessary. Check out the legal requirements for a parade in advance. It's just some friends and new aquaintences going on a Sunday afternoon walk around the neighborhood. Antis will show up and look foolish in contrast.

Mr. Bowman's advice is excellent. I, too, advise that you contact law enforcement ahead of time to advise as to your plans. That way, when they start getting calls about "man with gun," they'll know what's going on.

Also, you might want someone to advise the media. This is your opportunity to set a shining example, may as well have the press their to report on it.
