I was shooting at the range, and the shooter in the next window and I got to BSing, like what normally happens, and I found he had the nicest little 'model of 1989' .45 colt, I believe around a 5" barrel, and the feel and action were uncommon in this day and age.
I happenned to bring my 'model of 1989' 627, and I gotta admit, that gun is a keeper, as well.
I was wondering how many different guns were in the model if 1989 series.
I know for a fact there was a 5" 627.
I've seen the 5" 625 (I think that was the #) in .45 colt.
I also did a search on the auction sites, I only found 2 others, a 625 3" in .45 acp, and the sister piece to the 5" 625 above, but in .45 acp.
Are there any others?
I'm hoping maybe a nice 3" model of 1989 610, or 657!!!

It's probably a 625. I have one but in 45ACP. Partridge sights and non floating hand (IIRC the Model of 88 had the aborted floating hand on some guns)

S&W went crazy in 1989, and put out all sorts of variations. If you can find a copy of Guns & Ammo "Handguns" Annual for 1990, there's an article by Wiley Clapp and another gentleman regarding this very topic, called "After the Flood" that lists all the models produced. Unfortunately, I just gave my copy away today!

The M627 in all it's barrel lengths.
The M625 in all it's barrel lengths and both calibers.

I have an example of that revolver, 5 inch matte blue 45. LC Model 25 with "Model of 1989" on the barrel. According to my records the SN is BDS63XX, and I paid $349.99 for it in 1999. I'm very fond of it, but I don't have the S&W reference books handy at the moment, so I'm afraid that's all the help I can be at this point.
