G17 grip compared to G21 grip?

I've heard that the grip on the G21 is too large for most people. I own a G17 already, is the grip of the G21 larger? If so, by how much?

The grip on the G20/21 is almost half again as large as the G17.
I have large hands and it is uncomfortable to me.
The subcompact 10 shot G30 grip actually feels better in my hand.
I think if I was to buy a G21 I would spend the extra money and send it to Robar and have them perform their grip slimming magic.

I've owned a Glock 23 (same girth as a 17) and a 20C (same girth as 21). The latter is MUCH fatter in the grip. I could handle one OK, but it still felt awkward, and bear in mind I'm 6'2" tall.

The Model 21 sized Glock resembles most closely a 2X4, imho.

A Glock 21 magazine is about as fat as the entire grip of a 17. I like it though. :evil:

I have owned a G21 for ten years and always found it just a bit too large for my hands. A while back I had a grip reduction performed on it and the grip is now smaller then that of a STI hicap pistol.
You can PM me and I can give you the name of the 'smith who does the work. The price is very reasonable.

I have average size hands. The 17 fits me perfectly, the 21 is a handful.
I took the liberty of measuring both with a ruler (sorry, no calipers handy...but close enough for a comparison) for thickness in two dimensions about 1" below the trigger guard. The 17C is a gen 3 and the 21 is a gen 2, so I measured the 17C in the depression of the finger grips.
Results:
Glock 17: grip - 2"X1 1/8";
magazine - 7/8"X1 1/4".
Glock 21: grip - 2 1/8"X1 1/4";
magazine - 1"X1 7/8".

I don't have massive hands and I handle a G21 fine. I also know less-than-manly women who handle G21's. I'd suggest, assuming that one doesn't have petite, "girly" hands, actually shooting a G21 before writing off the G21 as only a weapon fit for King Kong or Might Joe Young.
You'll find the G21 to be plenty accurate and one of the easiest-to-handle, softest-shooting .45's you ever shot.

I have both and yes the grip on the 21 is much larger and feels like quite a handfull. However I shoot the 21 much better than the 17, so much for the saying what feels best in your hands. Of course thats why we have the new 45gap which has the same dimensions as the 17 and 22 and it sounds like your the buyer they had in mind.
