I don't have one, but my brother does. I like it very much -- it's so diminutive that almost a pocket pistol. It makes a great woodsman's gun.

I have one sitting in the safe that I haven't shot in years. When I was a kid, it was one of the first pistols I learned on as it had smaller grips. Nothing wrong with it, just not my first choice. Or second. Or third. Or... you get the idea. ;)

My wife bought me Ruger Bearcat as a going away gift before I went to stay with my favorite Uncle for a couple of years. She paid $56 for it brand new. I've still got the receipt for it somewhere. Great little shooter. Kind of small for large type hands but it's fun.

I've got one and love it. I actually bought it for my daughter when she was nine and she still shoots it pretty regular even though she's moved on to other things as teenage girls do. I've got fairly large hands but I find I can still shoot it pretty well and I have a lot of fun with it. The accuracy is better than my old model single six inside of about 20 yards. Never had a problem of any kind with it and have had probably close to two thousand rounds through it. They make it in stainless now which would be pretty nice for a woodsrunning gun.

Thought it would be good for training beginners, esp. since it fits small hand sizes well, isn't intimidating, can fire with .22 Colibris or .22 CB ammo for absolutely _zero_ recoil, etc.

I was strongly influenced by the postive reviews up on Gunblast.com:

Have fun, -MV

I got to handle one the other day and I am thinking of using it as a plinker and hiking sidearm.

I have an old Super.
Really like it but I'll probably install a J frame Smith adjustable on it later this year. Needs an adjustable sight on it. Otherwise it's great.

Don't own a Bearcat, but have shot one a few times. It is a bit too small for my ham-fist & sausage-fingered hands, but a real "hoot" to shoot. Good size for normal-to-small handed folks and for teaching youngsters. The Single-Six is a better fit for me.

I've used mine as a handy, easy packing little woodsbumming and camping companion. It's taught my neice and nephews the rudiments of handgun shooting admirably. Personally, I much prefer a SA revolver for that task, and the Bearcat is just the right size for it.

My only real gripe is that the front sight blade is shiney and semi-circular instead of serrated ramp. A little flat black enamel or carbon blacking helps, but isn't very durable. One of these days I'll get around to having it replaced. As it is, it's regulated for windage spot-on, and close enough for elevation to be workable with nearly any 40 gr. HV .22 LR.

After finding that the S&W K-22 was not comfortable for me to use.
The Bearcat was the answer for woods-walking and tractor-carry. ;)

After nearly 40 years I bought a "New Bearcat".

The Australian dealer I bought it from was less than honest and it was less than "new", but after some work it is shooting very well indeed. More a function of the warped firearms laws in Australia and related difficulties in obtaining warranty service than a criticism of the gun.

The Bearcat is that rarity in today's handgun market -
A .22 rimfire revolver actually sized for the .22

As mainmech48 notes, the front sight can use a bit of improvement -
I made a band with patridge type sight for mine.

With a file and a bit of range work, you can easily zero the Bearcat for point-of-aim with your favorite brand of ammo. And those fixed sights don't snag or drift out of adjustment.

I would recommend that anyone in the market for a handy knockabout rimfire revolver at least give the Bearcat a try before deciding.

They are great little guns. :)

My wife bought one for me. It was my first hand gun and first revolver. It cost 39.95 at Woolworth's five and dime. I still have it. The last real use it got was as a fishing companion for my (then) 14 year old daughter. An excellent starter pistol for small hands. Quantrill
