I was wondering if there were any other reloaders in the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area who use West Coast Bullets. I buy from them regularly, a couple thousand at a time, but there are savings to be had by ordering 200lbs or more. Calibers can be mixed.
If anyone is interested in buying in bulk and saving a few dollars, post a reply, if we get enough we can make an order.

Can't you find a local bullet maker, so you don't pay for shipping?

There might be a local bullet maker, but these bullets are usually cheaper than most others, even factoring the shipping in. Plus I don't have to pay tax on them. In addition I really like the way their bullets shoot, they are thickly plated completely, and double struck for consistency in size and weight.

12K@roughly 115 grains, 10K@roughly 150 grains, 7K@200 grains, 6K@230 grains to get to 200 pounds without packaging.

That is not a lot of bullets to split really, I would think someone would want in on this. If I were close I would. When I get my shooting buddy totally coverted to lead bullets we will be doing this with Miester Bullets.

Local bullet maker here sucks, leading is bad and they are no cheaper than good bullets. I will put up with some leading if the bullets are cheap, but I will not pay full retail for it.

Why the plated bullets? IF they are required for your ranges I could see it, but I don't like paying for plating when I can shoot bare lead with no leading at all, not even a tiny bit of leading. The lube mess in the gun is a little bit of a PITA, but not bad when you know how to deal with it.

EDIT: went and looked at them on the web, WOW are they expensive!!!!!! I can get true jacketed bullets for the same price and less in most cases. Do you have a source that is substantially cheaper than direct from the manufacturer?

I know 200lbs is not a lot of bullets, but 200lb number is simply the threshold to get discounts on shipping. You can order 20,000lbs if you want to. And I like the fully plated bullets because it reduces the amount of lead I have to handle, and breathe in when they are fired. When you did your price comparison, did you factor in the fact that the prices on the webpage include shipping? I've looked around at many sources and my findings are that they are cheaper than traditional FMJ ammo, and perform just as well. How much do you pay for yours?

I shoot bare lead, and I get them for about $40 per thousand locally. I have gotten them as cheap as $30 per thousand shipped, I have 3000 45 cals on the way right now as a matter of fact, total just under $100. I did not factor in shipping, but they are still VERY expensive with shipping noted.

Try Deerfield bullets http://www.deerfieldenterprises.com

You can get traditional jacketed bullets for very close to the plated bullet cost. I have some 45cal 230 grain FMJ on the way, part of the 3000 mentioned above, and I can give a review once I run a few of them.

I understand your concerns with lead. I choose to shoot lead, you choose not to. Simple enough.

I look at it this way, how much is it worth to keep toxic lead from accumulating into your body and internal organs possably causeing severe effects later on in life.

I shoot West Coast bullets and have found them much more accurate and can be fired at much higher velocity then most lead bullets or other copper plated bullets. But I live in Washington so I cant help you out Zero.

Good luck Zero

I shot the Deerfield bullets in 9mm and 45. The 9mm was a 115 grain FMJ and the 45 was a 230 grain FMJ. Both shot great, although the 9mm needed more speed than I am used to for accuracy. I was nearly 100 FPS faster than normal before they really settled in through a CZ-75, but they did settle in and accuracy was darn good. I typically load a little light and these bullets wanted to be up close to factory 115 speeds. The 45 bullets were dead nuts accurate at all speeds, they just wanted to stay in one hole. A custom Para and a Kimber both shot them really well. The Kimber is bad about copper fouling too and these bullets fouled the barrel less than Remington, Winchester, S&B, or any plated bullets I have tried. The jacket is a little bit different in color, lighter in color I guess. According to Deerfield there is a bit more tin in the jacket and that is why the color is different and the fouling was less. Tin hardens the copper a little bit is my assumption.

So far with nearly 1000 Deerfields downrange I am really happy with them. One damn good bullet for the price IMO. I have had occasion to test the customer service too, one of my orders was not shipped correctly. Let's just say I came out PLENTY good on that deal, Pete and Lisa took great care of me. I am 100% confident in sending them more money, I know I am going to get a fair deal and excellent service. There are some shipping breaks on larger orders, get in touch with them and prices get even better!!

Hope this helps someone, I know the original poster is a plated bullet guy but I said I would review them and if anyone was following I wanted to get them the review.
