I tried my newest bullet/powder/case combo, using the wonderful deals I got on bullets and cases to good advantage.
I loaded 6.3 gr of Accurate Arms #5, under a Remington 115gr JHP, primed by Fed #100 small primers, in PMP/Denel South African cases, once fired. All shots were fired at 10 yards, two hand modified Weaver hold. Some groups, like the 6.2 load, were a little wild, but when I settled down from playing, and concentrated, I got one 3 shot group that measured less than an inch across. One hole is two rounds - I had to put a cartridge in it to verify! The second best group measured 1.75 inch. Now, I am not the worlds greatest shot, and I am positive there are lots of people who can do much better than me, but I was very satisfied with these results, out of my stock CZ PO1.
Oddly enough, I had 30 115 gr Seirra Tournament Masters FMJ loaded over 6.3gr of AA#5, and they keyholed like crazy. Now, 6.3 is listed as a starting load for this powder/bullet/caliber, and even so, I loaded 30 of the Remington at 6.2 with decent results. So why would a starting load cause keyholing of a high quality bullet? Any ideas?
BTW, I took pictures of the targets, when I get the disposable developed, I'll post them. All except the Barney target, which a kid wanted after I dumped 15 Remington factory JHPs at 10 yards, rapid fire, and got a 3 inch group all over that purple menace's face!!!
All in all, I am happy, and after I get done posting this, my son will play his Thomas The Tank Engine game on this computer whilst I reload a "few" more...now to do a test load of the Winchester 115gr hollowbase FMJ....
