Any way to get a replacement buttstock for a Saiga...

...short of buying another rifle?!?

Friend of a friend has the AK-action Saiga rifle in 7.62x39 which is in fine shape except for a stock that was snapped just behind the receiver. I've looked for two months at local shows and can't find anyone who carries replacement stuff. I wouldn't mind buying this rifle but parts seem to be a real problem.

The rear of the receiver is a bit narrower [1.125" vs. 1.250"] than the typical AK-clone, but the real problem is the difference in angle on the rear receiver cut. I can make something in the AK line work but I'd rather have a source for a factory replacement before I buy it.

Anybody solve this problem before or have an idea where I can look?

Otherwise, I'm just going to pass on this.

Thanks...

I think Mark Krebs is selling the original, hunting stocks.

Thanks, _96 ...

In all the years I've asked for help on TFL or THR, have never been let down. ;)

Many thanks!

My friend thanks you too.

His .308 broke behind the receiver on the 3rd shot and the gun show dealer told him "Tough luck."

You could add 5 US parts (trigger group, pistol grip and buttstock) and make it into a normal-looking AK with a few swipes of the dremel. Normal, US-made AK stocks are available all over the place.
