I don't claim to know much about 1800's era handguns, so I don't even know where to go with this one.

Somebody emailed me with a photo, and just this description: Kadet Savannah Tenn.

Here's the photo. Any ideas on where else to look?

Let's try the photo again. It's pretty lousy quality.

It's hard to tell from the photograph, but what I see doesn't look like 19th century workmanship. I think it may be a recent import, intended to be a wall-hanger, and the marking refers to an importer. I would try a search on "Savannah, TN" and "Kadet" see what turns up.

It doesn't even look like a real gun or anything that was ever intended to actually shoot. I think Old Fuff is right, as usual, and it is some kind of decorator "gun" like those sold to restaurants and bars to provide a "motif."

IMHO, I agree that it is probably a toy. Looking at the hammer, there is no place for a cap nor a clamp for flint or match. Searching through the mental archives (blow off the dust...) I think I had one of these when I was a kid...
