Don't pack so much ammo in your BOB you neglect your shelter and water. You're probably better off guarding yourself from hypothermia and dehydration than mutant bear zombie UN troops.

Just a friendly reminder from your untactical SHTF'in Skunk trying to keep things in perspective :)

to figure your water requirements.. take your body weight times .75 and divide by hours of heavy out door activity...this will give you, your total body requirements for that day.... not counting cooking etc.... drink or die.

What's the best purifier for questionable water? I need something that will purify enough water to keep me going, but not too large or complicated that my brain is overloaded. It shouldn't take up too much room in my RAID pack.

Are those camelbak systems w/ bioguard any good? I'm curious, but does the film/bactericide last a good long time?

There aren't many tents that I find to my liking, but I'm always on the look out for something new.

I've used MSR miniworks to purify water. The only drawback is that it gets clogged pretty fast, but that is probably due to the swampy waters I've used it with. It's easy to clean and what I've heard, your Marines use it as well. Anything that goes through the device is pure.

Then again, if every story about SF or Marines or whatever using product X was true, they'd have to have mighty large packs to keep them all with them.
