Great reactive targets for cheap!

Found some great new reactive targets: old skis!
As I have gloated before, at my house we can shoot off the porch. This winter I used all the old skis in the basement for driveway markers. As the snow is now melting (60+* today!) my housemates and I decided they do not need to be in top condition anymore. We had all the .22's out on the deck (browning buckmark, ruger 77/22, ruger bearcat?, marlin 81c) which is at the end of the driveway. We progressively shot from @10yds to @50yds.
For it to work well, it helps if the skis have bindings on them so you can pound them into the dirt w/ a mallet.
If you shoot the tips, the ski will wobble to indicate a hit, but not fall down. You can shoot the bindings off (nice rewarding displays of flying plastic) and then shoot the peices as they slide down the hill. with the scope on the 77/22 I can get real precise and progresively blow off the steel edge. Finally, you can put it down for good w/ a blast of Buckshot! Our deck is littered w/ brass. I'll clean it up tommorrow. ;)
Final note: Be aware that most bindings have metal plates at the bottom so there is some potential for ricochet. We only shot bindings at 25yds or more. A side benefit of this exercise is the rather obvious display of destruction to give BG's something to think about if they are dumb enough to come up our driveway.
Most ski shops have skis so junky they'll give em to you. Happy shooting!

I really hope the public road with passing cars was NOT down range from where you were shooting....

Of course not, sir. I live ON The High Road! Actually, since you have twisted my arm, I will describe our perfect shooting castle. The house sits in a hollow about 100 vert ft up from the main road. The driveway steeply climbs up and then right angles around a knoll to the deck. We have no direct line of sight to the road and shooting down the driveway backstops at the right turn into a 300ft hill. In short, I can shoot in any direction under 45* elevation except straight down the hill to the road, which is not the way the driveway goes. Gunshots in this valley are common, so no-one passing by pays any attention. In short, its the perfect shooting house!
