My dad has an old (35+ years) .410 shotgun that was handed down from my grandfather. It's a pump action and was purchased at Sears and Roebuck and has "Model 21" stamped on it.

Anyone know who the manufacturer could have been and whether it is a decent firearm?

Your shotgun was made by High Standard. It is not a high dollar gun, nor does it have a lot of collector value. Guns of that era were pretty good guns. I personaly don't have any knowledge on that model, but for an inexpensive gun they were generally functionable and did the job.

Thanks Jagermeister,

I wasn't holding out too much hope that it was worth a lot of money, but I figured that it did have some ephemeral value as it represented an era when you could go down to the local Sears and Roebuck and get a firearm for a fair price.

Being as it has some family sentimental values, I don't see us ever getting rid of it or even firing it for that matter.

It's in beautiful shape for being as old as it is.

Don't sell it but by all means go out and shoot that thing. Nothing better for a gun than some use once in awhile. I've got some guns that are almost 100 yrs old and I make sure I go out and "exercise" them.:D

Red,

I'd like nothing more than to shoot the shotgun. I have to soften dad up to the idea, being as it is a family heirloom of sorts he may a little reticent to "exercise" it.

Now that he's shot my USP, maybe he'll want to get in the habit of giving that guna workout too! ;)
