I am in need of some free (or Dirt Cheap) software to calculate trajectory and energy based on velocity and Ballistic Coefficient. Also, where can I find out the BC of all of the various component bullets so I can calculate this stuff? Anybody?

I like:

http://www.norma.cc/htm_files/javapagee.htm

and the price is right.......it is free.:)

Balistic coef. can be obtained from bullet mfg. pages:

http://www.sierrabullets.com/bullets/index.cfm?fuseaction=Ballistic

http://www.nosler.com/index.html

Since these are the two makes of bullets I use, these are the only sites I can share.

Go to www.huntingnut.com Dallan has a real good free program you can download. It's called "Point Blank". Good or better than a lot of comercial stuff.

i have some software that is pretty good and free.
you can set you load data, evnironment, and zero (plus much more) i've been playing with it and setting the zero at a certain distance then using the program to tell you how many clicks on the scope to get zero at another yardage. playing with this software make me want to start to reload:D
don't recall where i got it at the moment, but it's on my computer at home. can let you know when i get back on wednesday. i think it's called "ballistix" or something like that.

Quack, which one of those on that link is the one to which you refer? Two of them there are ms-dos programs, which both promptly drew an "error - shutting down" message on my WinXP system. The large 5.3 mb one does not extract properly - error message - "fail to read" or somesuch. Shame because as large as it is, I thought it might be pretty good - tried it 3 times. One link there is now no good. I'm getting nada from that page. Thanks.

Futo:

Been a while, but I ended up chosing WinBallistics. It's a small but powerful program that works fine on my XP.

JBM's latest ballistics page (http://www.mega.nu:8080/traj.html). Free, fairly accurate. Can use BC from multiple velocity ranges (Sierra provides this data for their bullets...I don't know if any other manufacturers do) and ranges to 10,000 (yes ten thousand) yards.

Just in case.
