Just bought the scale. Read the instructions fully and got it zeroed with no problems. I will be getting some check weights tomorrow. So far it seems like a nice scale. Like it better than the Lee scale I had.

Anyway, I was playing with it by weighing some bullets. Couldn't do that with the Lee ( Not that the Lee is a bad product). The bullet is a Hornady XTP 230gr. I weighd 5 different bullets. Each was a diferent weight. 2 were 229.8, 2 were 230.4, and 1 was 230 even.

Should I worry about the small weight differences? Will these small diferences make any difference to the powder charge? And third, is this normal?

In theory all cartridge components should be the same but I doubt you will see a difference on target.

And third, is this normal? Yes

Exactly what Bullet said.

In fact that is a pretty narrow range of weights compared to some I've weighed in the past. You won't find consistent weights until you buy "match" bullets. Even then they aren't the same weight, just a narrower range. Some standard grade rifle bullets are remarkably even in weight such as Nosler Ballistic Tips.

Your results seem normal to me. Considering what a grain represents, the bullets weights you mentioned are very close.Load them up and enjoy yourself at the range.

When weighing bullets I've found I can change what the scale reads a lot more than the variations you asked about by changing the locations of the bullets in scale's powder pan.
I wouldn't worry.

Thanks for the information.

I didn't believe that there was any problem, but I had never weighed bullets before.

It is good to be reassured.
