Just picked up a Colt MK1V Series 80 Officer's ACP that has been worked over by Wilson's. It has a Wilson barrel and bushing and a full length guide rod with a hex hole in it.
What is the best way to strip this pistol for cleaning?
Anyone have any idea what rating the recoil spring is and does it have dual springs?
Guess I could remove the slide stop and strip it but would like to get any better ideas before I try.
This is the first 1911 clone I have ever owned that has a F.L. guide rod.
I use the word clone because I can't think of any other to use. I know this pistol is not a 1911

Howdy Ken,

The hex socket in the end of the rod suggests a two-piece rod. Stick an allen wrench in it and unscrew it. Then it'll be like a standard, or stub guide rod. Is it a bushingless design? Does it have a reversed plug? More data please...

Not sure what the spring rate is....but I'd guess somewhere in the neighborhood of 22-24 pounds...and if it's a reverse-plug setup, it'll be a proprietary spring. Likely dual, reverse wound on the inner spring if it's got a Kings recoil system...but it could also be a single spring. You'll know when ya get it apart.

Luck!
