View Full Version : Sure-Fire A2...Need I Another Light?

OK with an A2 and assuming I don't like the Sure-fire cigar shooting grip, do I need anything else?
I have an E2e which may (will) become a back up light. Since I don't shoot with that grip, I don't need an M2.
L1? What the heck for?
I don't like their rechargables and the batteries are cheap now, so the rechargables are out.
So...other than long gun handguard lights, does one need another light besides the A2, or is this the do-it-all light?
Your thoughts?

Skunkabilly...
I have an unrelated question...
How do you post pictures on THR?
I see you, as well as other members, post pictures within their posts.
Being a computer newbee, I have not idea how you folks post your great photos.
Any suggestions?
Thanks...

Skunk, this is how it goes.
You'll have to get a weaponlight for your favorite longarm. This will probably be a M500/900 if you prefer the AR15 type rifle, or a Responder 6/9xxFA if you prefer scatterguns. You're in California otherwise I would recommend subgun-mounted lights.
You thus "need" a hand-held light that can interchange/harvest parts with your weaponlight. This means some sort of Millennium light for the M500/900 -- or if you get the LM90 module for your Responder. In other words you need a M2, M3 or M6, depending on your weaponlight.
If you do not elect to purchase the LM90 unit for your Responder, I'm fairly sure the P60/61 lamps that fit in the Z2, C2, D2 and 6P lights. If your Responder is a 9 volt unit, you can interchange the P90/91 lamps with a 9P, C3 or D3.
It's very easy to justify the "need" for another Surefire!

jthuang, I like your thinking. 'Tactically Logistical' as Twoblink would say.
I'm considering a Millenium lamp for my Benelli housing thing.
I still haven't put in the order.

Skunk, I am a big fan of surefire. I have put a lot of thought into which light to buy next. The A2 is perfect for EDC. Long life on low light and REALLY bright (for its size) when you need it. To me the A2 = E2e + E1e with KL1 in other words (MSRP) $175 = $100+78+56.

Just curious, what grip do you use?

Harries when shooting and searching left, neck index when searching right. FBI as needed.

JTHuang,
What's a 'responder' is this the new shotty lights with the constant on?
Do the older 2-battery lamps use the same as my E2e and my future A2?
I'm looking for the AR15 integrated handguart light, I'm assuming that's a millenium. I'm aiming at a total of 3 AR15s and my one Benelli, and will probably get taclights for all of them? So I'll have enough Millenia around. Will probably go with the Nitrolon polymer lights for the handguns, do they use the same lamp as the E2e and A2?

Responder has always been the name of Surefire's dedicated shotgun forearms. The "new" style Responders have the non-slip grip and the constant on/off as standard. You can tell the new ones by the model designation "FA".

If your question is whether the P60 and P61 lamps (both 6V lamps) will fit in the E2e or A2, the answer is no.
I'm looking for the AR15 integrated handguart light, I'm assuming that's a millenium.
Yes. The integrated handguard light for the AR15 with M4 handguards is the Millennium M500A, 500AB, or 500B. If you have full length A2 handguards, the model designations are M510A, M510AB and M510B. There may be a model for triangular handguards as well.
I'm aiming at a total of 3 AR15s and my one Benelli, and will probably get taclights for all of them?
You must have a lot of money on your hands. :)

I don't have a handgun-mounted light so I don't know. My guess is that the answer is no.

Not really. I just live like a bum to pay for all this stuff!
And I said 'aiming at taclights on all three' I didn't say what kind of timeframe (within 5 years?)

Good idea. I bought both my weaponlights within a span of 6 months. Now they're both outdated. My Responder 617F for my Benelli doesn't have the non-slip grip, nor can it accept the LM90 assembly, although it does have the constant on/off switch. And my M500A lacks the navigational LEDs and the new heat-resistant plastic.
I also have two E2s. Not E2es. Bought the spare E2 as a backup for when I lose the first one. The E2 isn't offered any more, so there are two more Surefires of mine that are dated.
Buying over time prolly would have saved me from having so many dated lights. :)

I carry a surefire g-2 in my one of my pockets since purchasing it.
This one in plastic body.
Have another for the forearm of the mp-5 in aluminum.
Having the sun ion your pocket or on your chosen defensive arm is a must.

Skunk,
If tactical is your bag, you need to get yourself a Tigerlight. OC in the tail - or not, your choice. Rechargeable NiMh for a 1hour + run time, and the light can be left on the charger when not in use. This light has more power than either my Z2 with 120 lumen lamp or my 8NX commander. It will out throw most surefires without a turbohead and is a fraction of the cost. Same lifetime warranty.
I love my surefires, but the Tigerlight has to be seen to be believed.
