What it that old military looking rifle Sadam is fireing into the air one handed? Is that some sort of psychic way of finding those that are disloyal to him - whoever he hits is a trator? Kind of like a psycho oujoi board.

Looks like a Mannlicher Bolt-action sporter, 7mm Mauser, SN345678, 14 ounce trigger pull, 24 inch barrel, deluxe blueing, 5 round magazine, sighted in at 100 meters with 140 grain SP bullets, berdan primed.:D

telewinz, you're wrong! Everyone knows Sadam prefers the 154 grain Norma soft point! ;)
Seriously, I can't tell what kind of rifle he's holding. I've never got a straight clear shot of it. I can see it has the full length Mannlicher style stock, but beyond that I can't tell.

Well, he figures his kids are behind him and as long as he shoots slightly forward, left or right, the kids and he are all safe, screw everyone else.

Doubt it’s a Ruger, probably a CZ or some other Euro Mannlicher style… though who knows? If it is a Ruger ‘Ole Bill is probably whirling in his grave like a top.

- - -But I saw a photo in, I think, Newsweek, which had a full-length view of the BOTTOM of the Mannlicher-stocked rifle. I have to agree with gun-fucious - - - I believe it's a Ruger. Something about the treatment of forward sling attachment and the checking pattern.
Best,

You must be mistaken, my information states he has rifle SN345679, and he sights it in at 300m. He uses the bayonet to cut his steak, as well.

Well, whatever it is, he better hope it'll blow a Daisy Cutter out of the air. :D
Cold dead fingers would be a blessing for him. I hope his fingers are disintegrated come Thursday....

What a stupid thing to do … firing a high-powered rifle, in the middle of the city at approximately a 45 degree angle. I wonder how many have died in his celebratory impact area?

It could be firing blanks, but probably not. It doesn't surprise me at all that it is a Ruger. He has been in power over 20 years and at one point we SOLD him quite a bit of weaponry. The Ruger could have been a gift from Reagan who knows!

Well, if it is a Ruger International, he has impeccable taste in firearms. Hmmmm.....I've got the same rifle as Saddam! I thought I'd seen it somewhere in a picture before when I bought it.

Saw a picture of the inside of an Iraqi gun shop on the web news. Had a whole stack of high cap pistol mags on the counter. All the ammo was Winchester and Sellier & Bellot. Got to admit, they've got good taste in ammo. And how do you like that? Iraqis can buy new high cap mags for their pistols, but we can't.

That about says it all. Iraq seems to have more reasonable gun laws than we do. How's that for irony?

I always get a kick out of people that ppoint out the Iraqi's are not following the 4 rules of gun safety. Like they know or care:banghead:
Get over it. Maybe if were lucky he accidentally hits his senior officials or other such undesireables. Besides they Saddam and his like think the people are disposable. "Look, I hit a peasant. Let's try that again. HA"
The Iraqi's are not known for their superior educational instituitions (why so many are here) so why would they teach gun safety?

Saddam indiscriminately fires a Ruger into the air?
Why...why, that can't be!
After all, Old Man Ruger made sure that all of the guns his company designed would only appeal to 'responsible citizens.' After all, he made sure to limit magazine capacity of his handguns, as well as everyone else's, and refused to make any pistols that could be easily carried. Boy, and he also made sure that Ruger didn't make any assault weapons, whatever those are. And he only sells those evil folding stocks and high-capacity psycho killer magazines to the cops. I refuse to believe that Saddam could even pick up a Ruger, because we all know that Ruger is a pristine, angelic company that makes guns that are incapable of being misused by criminals, whether they be muggers, or 3rd world tin-pot dictators.
