I am interested in a hands free sling that is deployable from the waist.

Click on "SLINGS" on the menu at the left. Then, "RIFLE/SHOTGUN SLINGS". Scroll down to seventh item. That's the one I use.

I'm not sure what you mean by deploy from the waist but i use the giles sling. When released my AR lays across my torso diagonally with the muzzle to the left (i'm right handed).

Giles sling from The Wilderness.
It works pretty much like the HK 3-point sling, so you can sling your rifle in about a half-dozen different ways.

With a standard GI sling I can go from rifle slung on shoulder to lead on target almost as fast as a good pistolero can do the same from the holster.
'Course, it's not a very secure way to carry when moving fast. :(

Thanks guys. I was talking about the style that is closest to the Wilderness sling.

Another Giles fan here; I’ve one on my Benelli, and three more on three ARs. I’ve got Turner slings on the M1A and the HBAR Sporter.

USGI sling on one, made-at-home Giles on the other, both 20" A2s. The Giles-ripoff is real nice, but I used 1" instead of 1.25" webbing (which is about triple the price of 1"), so it sorta cuts in if I'm just wearing a Tshirt under the sling. A vest with a light recoil pad helps spread the weight so its comfortable.

Usgi -web sling. :)
Me too. Except mine is dyed black, so it looks ... "tactical" :)

I made a giles type sling for a .17 rifle that I carry in the woods hunting.
Then I made another one for a 30 06 that I plan on hunting with this fall.
I made another for my AR just a week or so ago. I used 2 inch webbing on the hunting rifles. Went to 1 and a half inch on the ar. On the .17 I mounted the swivels on the side of the forestock and on the upper left corner of the buttstock. The 30 06 works fine with just the rear swivel point re mounted.
The pieces from REI cost about 8 bucks for each one of them.
Quick, easy to carry, adjustable for where you want it to ride and at what angle. Total hands free carry for when you are working your way up or down somthing that requires both hands. Great idea.

Take a look at CQB Solutions' slings. Very well made, comfortable when worn all day, made by people who understand CQB needs.
